Archetypes In Cheryl's Journey
In this essay I am trying to accomplish a literary analysis and integrating quotes from the book Wild. My focus is Option A which is to analyze the archetypes in Cheryl’s journey and the roles of various characters. My thesis was how the archetypes create who she really is and without them she wouldn’t be able to change. I chose this topic because I like to know about other people's journey and the people that impacted them in their journey. I considered the audience by not using personal pronouns. I considered the purpose in every part of the essay by following the thesis. I hope readers get that this is one journey with her own type of archetypes, but everybody has a different path with similar but in different times you have archetypes in life. My revision process went well. Some of the struggles were repeating the quote in different words, but saying it almost the same. Another struggle was choosing the type of archetypes because there were so many …show more content…

I am improving in revising my own essay. I have also noticed I have improved on analysis where I had trouble with. At the beginning of this quarter I would usually put one sentence or two and now I am getting the hang of analysis. Also, I am improving in Works cited. This time I think I did well in the organization because I put the archetypes in chronological order, but also a repetition of archetypes. For example, good, bad, good, bad because in life there is always obstacles and it is not always going to be good times. Overall, strengths were the length requirement, which I think I exceeded to do more than the minimum requirement that was 4 pages, improving in MLA format, and citing sources. I have improved in grammar and organization. I think I have improved in analysis and also in my analysis conclusion. My weaknesses, I felt were the paragraphs that did not relate back to my thesis and also the shapeshifter paragraph was not

I think my strongest essay is Rhetorical analysis essay about Tobias Wolff’s “Bullet in the brain.” I spent so much time on the assignment and introduction is good. I think the introduction is one of important part of the essay. Because the introduction grab reader’s attention and make them to read more. I had to follow the instruction given by the professor. I stated my specific topic and I wrote about one topic in my whole assignment. I read the book over and over again, and I analyzed the book from a certain point of view like a book critic. My work was well organized into paragraphs. Each paragraph focused of a single part. Also, I used transitions to help my assignment flow more smoothly.…

My weaknesses fall mostly with the lack of explanation present in my body paragraphs. I feel as if the second I reached a point I simply moved onto the next, as if simply pointing out the strategies was sufficient. Also I do not feel that my incorporation of quotes was sufficient enough for the claims I was making. I feel like they were inserted without explanation. If I could rewrite this essay, I would most definitely work on these weaknesses as well as provide a stronger introduction which better addresses the prompt. Currently standing however, I would give my essay a four because of the lack of development in the body…

The following are three essays that I worked on during the semester. Most of it remains the same, while some of my ideas have developed. The only major changes made were redirecting the ideas in the Where is Waldo Now essay. In English 1102 I struggled with a lot, Professor Grant really challenged what I thought I knew about writing. Being that English is my second language, language barriers normally do not reflect in my speech or writing. I felt that this semester really showed me that I still had work to do. Passive voice, comma slices, forming arguments, and grammar are some of the many skills that I worked on during this semester. I attended the Writing Center as often as I could; I also asked questions during office hours. I worked on perfecting these skills in my other classes as well by reading out loud. By exploring these different options my essay grades improved 15 points. Hopefully my portfolio and future papers reflects the time and practice I’ve put into my writing.…

I changed several things in my paper starting with my attention grabber. I changed the whole sentence into something more attractive to my readers. I thought my attention grabber was to boring. I changed the extra space I had in my paper which I didn’t know how to until now. I changed a few words that I mistakenly added instead of the right word. I also changed the sentences from my second paragraph. I excluded using first person “us” since it is informal to use when writing college essays. I deleted the last sentences from my second paragraph which didn’t make sense and added something that did make sense with my paragraph. I had a run on sentence which I made them into two separate sentences. In my third paragraph I explained my first sentence which was a good idea I wrote. I would like feedback on the mistakes I corrected and anything else would be great to know.…

Throughout my time is College Composition I, I learned and developed numerous skills that I will carry with me to college and beyond. While writing the five assigned essays, I was able to identify my strengths and weaknesses. I believe a strength of mine was my ability to add in personal stories into my essays. For example, in my definition essay, I included my fear of disappointment and how I work to overcome this particular fear. On the other hand, one weakness that I struggled with was style. While writing my essays, I would sometimes use wordy and unclear sentences structures. Often times I would focus solely on improving my diction while writing my papers.…

In my first essay on identity, I felt very comfortable, and I even thought that was easy, except for the thesis, in which I spent a little bit more than two hours. The rest was easy, but I did not understand the assignment and I failed my purpose of writing because I did not have a clear purpose. My second essay on community was better. The thesis statement was clear, I was more specific, but there were not stronger connections between my paragraphs and my thesis. Consequently, my evidence was unstructured and unclear. Then, in my third essay on competition, I did not add transitions in my paragraphs and I did not preserve the logical flow of the story. My fourth essay on Romance, was my favorite, my ideas were clear in my mind but not on my paper; the thesis was long and lacked of clarity to support my assertions. Next, my fourth essay on entertainment, I jumped from one idea to other without sticking to my thesis and my position was not clear. Finally, in my last essay on nature, what I feel was the worst of my essays; I used an assumption very difficult to illustrate and I misunderstood the assumption which leaded to lack of coherence and unity.…

I have several areas that were difficult for me. The areas I know that I need improvement on are developing the outline points into body paragraphs clearly, narrowing down my points and not trying to put too much information into an essay. Another area that is difficult for me is reviewing another’s work and trying not to sound too mean or even nice with my comments.…

I think that now I write papers more structured and organized rather than throwing all of my ideas down on the paper. In the future, I think that I will seek feedback by asking a friend to proof read my work or by going to the ask center for help after I have read it aloud several times. If I need more feedback I could talk to my professor and see what his expectations are and what I can improve on. Overall, the experience that I had with all of my proof reading and feedback resources was positive. I think that I have learned more about my habits, which have helped me improve my writing skills in…

This year I finalized my writing process and how I choose to go about writing my works. I focused on a number of Composition and Writing Process pieces in my portfolio. In the past, I was used to writing rough drafts for all my final papers and only occasionally would I write an outline for them as well. As shown mainly through the Cultural Identity process, the slower and more thorough of a process I take with my writing, the better it will be. Similarly, the rough draft I wrote for my persuasive essay showed multiple errors and places that need to be fixed and patched up in order to improve the strength of my message. For a good majority of the papers I wrote this year, I wrote an outline and a rough draft that was revised at least once. I believe that I have become accustom to a writing…
