In addition, the forefathers envisioned everyone being born with the natural rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Thomas Jefferson, who primarily wrote the Declaration, stated that “all men are created equal” and were entitled to “life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness.” Although not everyone is treated equally, we all have the same rights and punishments. Natural rights are the legal rights the government gives citizens when they are born. Everyone is born with the same rights, which are freedom of speech, freedom of the press, and freedom of religion. Furthermore, the forefathers wanted to avoid the depravity of human nature and protect the slaves. They felt that having people as slaves and taking away their rights was unfair. They tried to continue slave voting, yet did not have the actual rights of other citizens. Thomas Jefferson believed that all people should be created equal and that slaves should be treated like other citizens. Slaves were treated poorly by their owners and were not given the same rights as other people. In conclusion, the forefathers had many visions that are still being expressed
