Torture is never acceptable because people harm animals and people. People harm people and animals; Why do you think people have more intense reactions to hearing about torture than they do to hearing about bombings or other acts of war. What does it mean when the President of the United States announces that America must reject the false choice between our security and our ideals? What is it about our founding principles that makes Americans feel so strongly about torture; possibly it is unethical. When it comes to torture it is too easy to separate people into goodies and baddies organizations like Amnesty International tend to dismiss as unrealistic any scenario where torture is the way to save hundreds of lives, but that is not responsible. Reasonable people will disagree about when torture is justified. I disagree that torture will be justified because people are going to still kill people on the behalf of their behavior and anger issue. Some people just have problems in their life for them to torture innocent people that don’t harm a fly. Certainly, torturing an innocent person to death is worse than a murder. Torture doesn’t necessarily involve killing, and torturers necessarily have the power of life or death over their victims. Torture is similar to killing in that both interrupt and render impossible the normal conduct of human life. However, it does not follow from this that being tortured is less preferable than being killed. Nor does it follow that torturing someone is morally worse than killing them.
