SHAWN M. KEEFNER are examples of case laws based on marijuana and how state and federal laws differ on this topic.
THC has been proven to do tremendous things as far as the health of our people that unfortunately are sometimes impossible to explain. The THC has been shown to slow the progression of Alzheimer’s disease, alleviate pain and inflammation linked to arthritis, an unknown chemical compound found in marijuana turns off the “ID-1″ gene which cancer cells use to spread, and marijuana has been used to enhance the appetite of cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy.
Marijuana may stop seizures, increase lung capacity – not decrease it, as many people have long believed, marijuana has been use to ease tremors and improve fine motor skills in patients with Parkinson’s disease.Marijuana has also been shown to reduce symptoms in those patients suffering from depression and anxiety however it has been proven that large doses can increase depression anxiety and paranoia. Along with the pros of marijuana you have the proven cons. The short term effects include Distorted perception, problems with recollection of events and learning, coordination, problem-solving, increased heart rate and reduced blood pressure. Once you get past the short term effects the long term are far worse. The heart beat increases rapidly and your blood pressure drops within seconds of smoking marijuana and can stay that way for up to 48 hours
after. A person’s heart beat can increase by 30 to 60 beats per minute. A marijuana smoker is three times more at a risk of heart attack.Marijuana causes problems in smokers, such as daily cough and phlegm production, more frequent chest illness, increased risk of lung problems and obstructed airways. Marijuana smokers are four times more likely to develop esophageal cancer, as compared to non-smokers and although marijuana has been proven to help with certain cancers it is far from helping with all. Women who have used marijuana during their pregnancy have given these same problems to the child however once they have been apart of the baby's prenatal development it is almost impossible to reverse.Researches indicate that the THC found in marijuana temporarily stops the body’s immune system which fights diseases that can result in a wide variety of health problems. It increases the risk of developing bacterial infections and tumors as well.
