(Introduction) Guantanamo Bay did a good thing for America. Guantanamo Bay is located in a small area in Cuba off of American soil. America's most recent president, Barack Obama wants to shut the prison down and suspended it for a short period of time in the beginning of January this year. (My position And Thesis) I believe that Guantanamo bay should never be shut down because the prison led United States and other countries' to terrorists and it punished those who planned to kill innocent lives. (Ethos) Guantanamo Bay should not be shut down because the prison led U.S and maybe other countries to Al Qaida by the information they collect from the detainees. The guards would torture the prisoners so that they may be able to get information on anything they thought the prisoners would know like locations on other terrorists. Guards would use many types of torture but the main torture they did was drowning. Guards would dunk the detainee’s heads in huge barrels of water and dip them inside repeatedly till they said something. Sometimes the prisoners would tell information about the leader or the group who made them hurt or plans to kill innocent lives or just to kill in general. It seems like a good idea to have a place like Guantanamo Bay so that we as a country can prevent horrible events like September 11, 2001. (Pathos) The prison punished those who wanted to kill for the wrong reason. Those who are valuable in terms of information are beaten repeatedly. I do think that the prison may be too extreme but it is necessary to save lives. I do understand that humans have rights to live. It is wrong to do such horrible things in terms of torture. Those prisoners want to take lives by killing and spreading innocent blood. I believe we as a country must do things so that people like the Al Qaida or any terrorist groups cannot exist in the world.
