Millions of Americans have owned or currently care for a pet of some sort. These animals also include those of an exotic origin. The ownership of such animals is generally deemed as unusual or bizarre. Some would argue that exotic animals are not fit to be in the possession of a common person due to the belief that they are unmanageable and pose harm to the owner. Although, this is merely a stereotype produced by those who are in opposition to keeping uncommon pets. The ability to own exotic animals as pets should be maintained and recognized as acceptable.…

In a world where books are outlawed and knowledge is scoffed, separation from true feelings means true happiness. Or does it? Ray Bradbury’s book, Fahrenheit 451, illustrates exactly what the world would be if people were separated so completely from their feelings that they were unable to comprehend the true meaning and feeling of real satisfaction. Although Fahrenheit 451 and our society today are distinctly different, they also have some startling similarities.…

Since the opening of SeaWorld on March 21st, 1946, one of the ocean’s most incredible creatures have been constantly suffering unnerving torture. Instead of being able to live freely in their natural habitat, the Orca whales at SeaWorld have been forced to live in captivity. “Non-violence leads to the highest ethics, which is the goal of all evolution. Until we stop harming all other living beings, we are still savages.” This quote about animal abuse is from Thomas Edison, an engineer known for his life changing innovations that continue to impact on our world today. Animal abuse is a long-debated problem, often causing the world’s population to split into two sides over the dispute. On one side, are those who say that humans are far superior to animals and other living beings who have been put here solely to feed or entertain us. On the other hand, there are those of us who recognise that these “inferior life forms” should have the same rights as us, and so they deserve the same treatment.…

What I'm writing over is should animal testing be allowed. What my opinion is that we should not have animal testing. All the make-up you see our products are used on animals before when even use them. Did you know that they don’t test on humans because that would be bad if they did because those humans might die. That's why we shouldn't test on animals because they die too and there human nature and the world change by killing or testing them.…

Kate Chopin's "The Storm" is a short story written in 1898 but was not published until 1969. The story explores an excess of turbulent emotions of the protagonists in the backdrop of unexpected storm. Chopin effectively confronts the brewing conflict of the story by her unflinching depiction of the story through symbolisms. The symbolisms most evident in "The Storm" includes: the storm itself, Assumption, a small town in which the protagonists first met and whiteness as mentioned many times in the story.…

All of my life I have had a tremendous amount of passion for all animals, and in most instances I've found that I have felt more comfortable around them than I do people, finding myself drawn to their many personable qualities, such as innocence, loyalty, lack of judgment, and overall cheerful disposition. As I have grown, my care for animals and their well being has as well, and my eyes have been opened to the horrors taking place all throughout the globe involving poor, innocent animals, who are unable to defend themselves, against the very people they are meant to find companionship with. The controversy over the practice of utilizing animals for the purposes of testing has been an issue for the past 30-40 years, and with it, comes the moral debate. However, the topic of ongoing question, whether animal testing is right or wrong, lies within your own personal morals.…

When it comes to the topic of animal testing, most of us will readily agree that it is a debatable topic. Where this agreement usually ends, however, is on the question of whether it helps researchers to find new drugs and treatments suitable for humans. Whereas some are convinced that it does help researchers find new drugs and treatments, others maintain that some drugs tested on animals may never actually be useful or even safe for human consumption. In my own view the results of animals testing are unreliable because animals and humans are not genetically or anatomically alike to one another.…

I, like many children, have been to zoos when I was younger. Upon visiting zoos, I have decided that zoos are very cruel to keep animals caged up, often in regions and climates very different from their natural habitat. For example, elephants travel for miles in packs, when in zoos there are only several elephants with only several acres to walk around.…

The Animal Welfare Accountability and Transparency Act was introduced on March 2nd, less than a month after the USDA’s Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service removed animal welfare archives from nine thousand research labs, dog breeders and other facilities. This includes records from government programs such as the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Food and Drug Administration that require tests on dogs and rats. They also include pet store chains, zoos, and aquariums. These records describe in detail the quality of animal care in facilities structured by the Animal Welfare Act (AWA) and Horse Protection Act (HPA). Most of this information has been refurbished because of lawsuits from animal welfare organizations, but tens of…

When we think of a worldwide catastrophe, we usually think of earthquakes, ice age, and nuclear war. But one that should be recognized with much more severity is poaching. As international editor Richard Swift observed; “We are pushing a hundred species a day, four species an hour, into evolutionary oblivion”. Hunting and capturing animals has been practiced even before recorded history. Where this can be understandable to most in a survival perspective, there are people in this world who abuse this action and slaughter animals for other disrespectful reasons or no reason at all. This is identified as poaching and it should indisputably come to an end.…
