Lava Beds National Monument is contemplated as California's "best kept secret." This notion does not come without reason. The secluded park acquires a small estimated number of 130,000 visitors each year. When compared to Yosemite National Park's 4 million annually visits, National Lava Beds National Monuments appears as a deserted spot overshadowed by its similar neighbor. For this reason, Lava Beds National Monument would make the ideal destination for a field trip.
