Argumentative Essay On Animal Testing
Cosmetic tests performed on animals include dropping chemicals in the animal’s eyes. Animal cruelty is when someone hurts an animal or does not care for an animal responsibly. Animal testing is basically that, so, technically, animal testing is animal abuse. Animals should not be experimented on because the testing is somewhat like torture and they are innocent. Although huge developments have been made with animal testing, about 90% of successful animal testing is not successful when used on humans.
Animals should not be tested on because the testing is like torture. There are too many animals being tested on, especially monkeys, since they are the closest things to humans. According to Newsela, a current event website for kids, “Since 1960, the number of chimpanzees has shrunk. The latest count put the number of chimps in the world at 300,000 to 430,000.” “Registration of a single pesticide requires more than 50 experiments and the use of as many as 12,000 animals.”states the

‘’a drug to fight Ebola had showed remarkable success when tested in rhesus monkeys.” (Trull,2015) “More recently, animal research has helped pave the way toward restoring vision.” (Trull,2015.) “ Thanks to the work of scientists and physicians at Duke University, an experimental new treatment for glioblastoma multiforme, or GBM--an aggressive tumor that kills about 12,000 people in the U.S. each year--is saving the lives of patients who, just months ago, had little hope of survival. This extraordinary development wouldn't have been possible without animal research.” (Trull, 2015) However, about 90% of approved animal tested products don’t make it out of the lab, for they don’t work on humans. A lot of testing on animals is unsuccessful, and most of the time when it is, it doesn’t work on humans. This evidence shows that animals are different than humans and testing on them won’t help

Overall, animal testing is erroneous because it does not contribute anything meaningfully to the world. When animals are tested often the results are irrelevant, due to the fact, animals have many differences from humans. Also, the animals endure poor conditions. Lastly, the animals’ lives are wasted by being tested on products that are not important. Testing animals is abusive and needs to…

Animal testing on cosmetics should be banned. People are put in jail all the time for abusing their pets, but people are never put in jail for inhumane testing of cosmetics and other pharmaceuticals on these same animals. I have done a lot of research on animal testing and methods we can use that are more effective and don’t use animals through high school in my free time because of curiosity, so I know a lot of random facts about the harmful nature of this and alternative methods. Animals are being tortured to “help” make better medicine and, the majority of the time does not affect people the same way as animals. Animal testing is inhumane and ineffective the majority of the time, it should be banned.…

Animal testing has been going on for a couple of years now. Scientists use animal testing as a form of “safe” testing. According to Humane Society International, animal testing is, “Procedures performed on living animals for purposes of research into the basic biology and diseases, assessing the effectiveness of new medicinal products, and testing the human health and/or environmental safety of consumer and industry products such as cosmetics, household cleaners, food additives, pharmaceuticals and industrial/agro-chemicals. (1)” Many companies use animal testing because it is easier, or more ethical, to…

When it comes to the topic of animal testing, most of us will readily agree that it is a debatable topic. Where this agreement usually ends, however, is on the question of whether it helps researchers to find new drugs and treatments suitable for humans. Whereas some are convinced that it does help researchers find new drugs and treatments, others maintain that some drugs tested on animals may never actually be useful or even safe for human consumption. In my own view the results of animals testing are unreliable because animals and humans are not genetically or anatomically alike to one another.…

Awakening with a large needle in your eye, you realize you have been stripped from your mother and thrown into a small cold cage. A few hours later, you begin to go blind: something grabs you, another needle is pierced into you once again, and you start to fade away. Countless animals awaken to the same grim fate. They have no idea what is happening or what they did to deserve this treatment. Every day, every hour, and every minute, a laboratory test animal dies from horrible product testing. It is estimated that 72 animals are needed for just 1 product to be tested (“Proctor & Gamble” 2). While medical capabilities have advanced to the point where a cure for cancer could be right around the corner, yet an ancient practice is still being exploited. Old traditions die hard, but there are many alternatives that are starting to catch on that could end animal testing and at…

Well to answer that question is a little more complicated then what people think. Animal testing can help in many different ways such as helping to fight cancer, or to grow different extremities. All around the world animals are being tested on, whether or not it’s for medical or cosmetic use is different. “150 million cattle, pigs, and sheep are killed just for people to eat. While the amount used for testing is 26 million and most of them are rodent, birds, and fish. We consume more 340 chickens for every one animal we test on animals.…

Animal testing is really mean and dangerous to the animals. They test cosmetics, shampoos, conditioners, etc. Basically everything we used goes by them first. If they have a weird reaction to the stuff, they change the things they put in there. They are never fed water or the food animals actually eat. Another reason why animal testing should not occur is to use different techniques instead of using animals. Scientists are able to test on humans and then check their blood to observe if they have a strange reaction. Also, they want to use petri dishes that would give us better results than animals.…

More than 100 million animals are killed every year for commercial and scientific testing just in the United States alone! Animal testing is appalling. It is so sad that animals don't get to live in their natural habitat and have to be pinned up their entire life. So many animals are used for animal testing such as, mice, rats, frogs, dogs, cats, rabbits, hamsters, guinea pigs, monkeys, fish, and birds. All of these animals have to be crammed in cages for weeks on end. Animal testing should not be allowed because there is alternative solutions.…

Since 2002, over 1 million animals that the USDA collects numbers on, which includes dogs, cats, sheep, hamsters, guinea pigs, and primates, have been tested on. Since then, that number has increased to approximately 1.4 million. This excludes all rats and hamsters used in testing, which normally make up 90% of testing. This percentage, however, remains only as an estimate because US laws do not require scientists to record how many rats, birds, and mice are used. Cages for theses animals are not exactly up to standards either. Hamsters, rats, and mice tend to live in plastic boxes, approximately the size of a shoe box. Typically, more than one animal is placed in the small living quarters. Larger animals, such as dogs, cats, and primates typically live in wire cages which is an issue for these intelligent animals because they become extremely lonely and bored without toys to play with or ways to exercise. Substances we use everyday, such as eye shadow, soap, furniture polish and oven cleaner, may be tested on rats, rabbits, guinea pigs, dogs, cats, and other animals. These tests are mainly used to test the degree of harmfulness of products and their ingredients. Fortunately, more than half of the animals counted by the USDA are involved in experiments that do not cause pain. In 2002, 489,262 animals (not including mice, rats, and birds because nobody knows for certain how many of these animals were used) were used in research that was painful, distressful, or both. Although, most of these animals were given something to take the pain away or help them get over the pain quickly. 103,764 of the animals made to feel pain were not given anything to reduce their pain and suffering. Although some of this pain was slight-like getting an injection with a needle-some of it was extremely severe. Most of these animals are only used in one test, although sometimes the same animal will be used in more than one experiment. Most are euthanized shortly after…
