Today’s technology allows for people to easily access information with just a few keystrokes, but because of the amount of information out there, it is almost impossible to know what will actually get when you hit search on google. Censorship is a necessary practice because it protects the public from unknowingly causing harm, the innocence of children, and widespread turmoil.
The main reasoning for censoring in schools is to keep kids from being able to get their hands on information that they might not be emotionally able to handle. Yes, it is not right for a school to dictate what a child can and cannot handle, but schools cater to a wide variety of students all with varying maturity levels. By censoring books and other learning materials

During both wars, the United State censored letters that soldiers sent back home to their loved ones and some that their loved ones sent them. They did this in order to protect soldier numbers, type and amount of weapons, and locations from the enemy, they did this to protect the soldiers. The soldiers did not know what kind of information would be harmful to their efforts, they couldn’t have, so they government had to make sure nothing important slipped through. They did not do this to keep the soldiers from telling their families where they were in the world and what they were doing, but to protect the best they could while the soldiers risked their lives for their country.
There are many arguments out there that are against censorship. Some saying that censorship gives one institution too much power and others saying that it stops the public from being able to hear the full story, but no one really talks about the good it does. No one talks about how it allows our children to live as children by blocking vulgar images or how it protects us from ourselves by making sure our enemies do not get any information they should not have. By censoring we are allowing the public, whether that public is children or a country at war time, live in ignorance, and as they say ‘ignorance is

Censorship is a good thing because it limits inappropriateness in many ways. For example, in the book Fifty Shades of Grey, there is inappropriateness shown in a sexual way and a verbal way and shows abuse. This shows that some books should be censored, due to inappropriate things in novels, magazines, and in movies. In conclusion censorship isn’t always a good thing.…

Although I don’t agree with most forms of censorship, I feel as if it is important in certain situations. For instance, television must be censored because all age groups watch it, and it influences younger children’s behavior because they have seen it on television. Not to mention anyone at any time can watch TV. Whereas censoring books is completely different. The reader has the option to read the book, making the author not reliable. Not just any age group can pick up a book and begin to read the content. But a six-month-old baby can sit in front of a television and be influenced by the action of a criminal. Certain things influence certain age groups and I feel as if books shouldn’t be responsible. You have to actually read a book; you cannot just sit and watch the pages. I feel as if censorship should appeal to only things that require it, and in my opinion, books do not require censorship.…

The act of censorship has many consequences, one of them being the inability to think for oneself. If people are not presented with controversial material they won't be able to form their own opinions or ideas. This allows those in power to easily control and brainwash its citizens through censored information. The people of this society have no other choice but to believe the information…

There are some times where it is needed little, and also times where it is not needed at all. And even the times it is needed, it is not needed to the extent that it is used. There are very many ways censorship is bad for this country, and very few ways it is actually needed. Censorship in the knowledge of other countries, censorship from the government, censorship in technology, and censorship in learning are just few ways censorship is misused in the U.S. Everyone knows, as well as the pro-censorship believers, that censorship is misused in some areas. And that other areas it is not needed at all. Anyone that is pro-censorship knows well enough that it is wrong, the way it is misused. To close my argument i would like to point out the fact that pro-censorship believers have no real reason behind why it is a good thing, and cannot prove wrong that it is bad for not only children, but everyone in america. Now, i would like to resm my case by again saying to simply look into the negatives and positives of censorship, and see which one outweighs the…

Censorship violates humanity's natural autonomy in that it denies an individual an uninfluenced choice in formulating his or her beliefs. Even if the most intelligent human beings are very sure in respect to the truth of an idea, it is wrong for certain individuals to deny other individuals the opportunity to come to a decision themselves. Censorship is wrong because it disregards humanity's basic rational nature and its ability to critically evaluate complex ideas. In effect, censorship is unacceptable because it refuses to recognize another human being's intelligence and free will.…

Censorship is caused when books, movies, etc. are examined, and unacceptable parts are suppressed or the whole thing is banned. Schools nationwide have been banning books due to reasons such as racial issues, sexual explicit content, religious affiliations, violence, political bias, encouragement of “damaging” lifestyles, and etc. Often it is argued that banning books protects students from being exposed to inappropriate content, while others say that students should have the freedom to read what they want.…
