Argumentative Essay On Correcting Your Proctor
SELECTING YOUR PROCTOR

A proctor is a responsible adult at or over the age of 21. They are basically the “eyes and ears” of the University of the People. Their function is to properly identify the student, verifying identity through proper credentials of identification. A passport and driver's license would probably be 2 good means of ID, as they contain all necessary criteria. The proctor is necessary to supervise the exam, and ensure there is no cheating. Consultation with another party, or access to prohibited information would be 2 prime examples of cheating. Personal comment: "We're here to learn, not cheat".

According to the University of the People Student Handbook, (2015, pg 48), “A proctor should be a responsible adult, such as

When registering for your course online, you will immediately know if the course will require a proctor. There will be a link in place to the side of the course that will take you to the information area to add the proctor. All of the expected and usual information will be required. First name, last name and pertinent contact information: including residential address, telephone number and email address.

I would highly recommend getting together with your prospective proctor over lunch, or a just cup of coffee, or at least calling your prospect, and explaining the details of the process to them. This will avoid any surprises, and more easily answer any questions that may arise. Also, it is vital to impress upon them that this is a commitment of time and energy on their part that you cannot compensate them for in any way.

After the above-mentioned personal information is sent to the University, the prospective proctor will receive a return email, which must be answered and affirmed. My first choice for a proctor is going to be a woman named Carole Barra, she is a retired insurance executive, and also a retired school teacher. She taught 6th grade math. She's computer-literate, uses email, super smart, and of very high moral character. She's a no-nonsense kind of person. I think she'll do. I haven't asked her yet, but I think she will be honored to be my first choice. - 437

John Proctor begins the novel as a man who has made mistakes and is trying to avoid further mistakes. The first thing that would characterize John as a villain is when the affair with Abagail is made known to the readers. This shows villain like characteristics because he has broken the trust of his wife and ruined the relationship with God by committing one of the sins listed on the Ten Commandments. Further into the novel we see that proctor is trying to turn things around but not full heartedly. He try's to earn the forgiveness of his wife by making sure she is content with everything he does.…

John Proctor is a genuine man. Granted, he’s made a few mistakes, but that should not falter his overall character any. Proctor recovers his sense of dignity as well as his goodness by tearing up the confession paper that would have saved his life. Knowing John’s good conscience and the events that have led up to this moment, this act of morality is truly believable. This feat is also incredibly conscientious.…

I have chosen to write my response on the fact that John Proctor has committed adultery with Abigail. I believe that John does not sincerely mean sorry for cheating on his wife Elizabeth. I think this because if he really meant it then he would be begging for her forgiveness and not just saying sorry and it is over now. Also if he really meant it then he would have an actual conversation about the situation and would like to hear her opinion on the problem.…

John Proctor learned that maybe it’s okay to tell a white lie, in order to keep your life. The choice between life and honor is often times be a difficult choice for people. Traditional Japanese custom teaches to take one’s life in order to preserve your honor. However, man’s will to live will compel him to do anything, including lying in order to protect their own life. There’s no doubt John Proctor had that will to live however, in the end he chose death and I disagree with his decision. He should have lied because, his name is already blackened due to his affair with Abigail, his wife is pregnant and he could eventually redeem his name by living an honest and true life.…

Imagine being jolted awake in the middle of the night only to see a ghostly figure staring at you by the foot of your bed. This is what many people witness while staying at the Myrtles Plantation Bed and Breakfast located in beautiful St. Francisville, Louisiana (Nickell 12). The Plantation house is split into two parts, a museum and sleeping quarters for the brave guests who dare to stay the night (Rule 238). The Myrtles Plantation is known as one of “America’s Most Haunted Houses,” thanks to the ten gruesome murders that occurred in the house (Lewis G10).
