Argumentative Essay On Wind Farms

The wind farms were created to use for an alternative use to burning coal for electricity. “ It would do so without producing local air pollution or the greenhouse gases that causes global warming” (Layzer, 421). The wind farms are a good idea because it is a step to saving the environment instead of burning so much coal. It keeps the air from being polluted and is a step in the direction we need to make to finally make a change with the environment. “Cape wind could offset more than 1 million tons of CO2, nothing that to produce as much power as Cape Wind, an electricity generating plant would have to burn 85 million gallons of oil or 500,000 tons of coal” (Layzer, 433). By using wind farms like Cape, imagine how much less coal we would have to burn and how much of a positive impact that would have on our environment. A subsidy is a sum of money granted by the government or a public body to assist an industry or business so that the price of a commodity or service may remain low or competitive. The reason that wind farms were still being subsidies was because of the impact that people were hoping it would make.
