PMS and Combat Women and combat have always been considered to have little in common. Women have always been associated with emotion, caring, and passionate. Women today have the opportunity to enter the army, and are allowed to enter combat and fight alongside their male counterparts. Due to the lack of upper body strength, the inability to cope with combat stress and it situations, male and female romantic interaction, and the added mental stress on the female’s male counterparts women should not be in a combat environment. Men are naturally compelled to stop and help a woman in need. From changing a tire to lifting the heavy grocery bags out of the shopping cart. This does not change in a combat environment. Seeing female hurt quickly creates problems within the service member’s ability to think rationally when thinking rational is sometimes all you have in an extremely reactive environment. With that said, seeing a woman in need, a dangerous situation can become even more dangerous with an irrational decision because of the situation. This can also lead to the the romantic interaction between the genders in a combat situation. In an environment that seems like romance would be last on any service members thought process, it is still a conflict that is faced. The first and foremost concern is that of rape. With combat stress, the threat of a woman becoming a victim increases drastically. A male service member can make a bad decision and look for comfort from the female service member. Though wrong to start with, if the feeling isn’t mutual and the male not thinking correctly may decide to take anyway. Not only has a crime been committed but has now creating a situation where an entire mobile unit is no longer combat effective. Then comes the possibility that a male and female service member do become romantically involved and an accidental pregnancy occurs. In a combat environment this can become detrimental to all
