The Confederate states had slavery for four years, America had slavery for one hundred forty years (Slavery and the Making of America). If we ban the Confederate flag for slavery, then American flag should be banned as well. The flag people think of when they think of the Confederate flag was not the actual confederate flag, because it was the Confederate Battle Flag of the Army of Northern Virginia. The official flag was adopted on March 4, 1865. It was the battle flag in the top left corner on a white flag, with a thick red stripe on the right side, unable to visual it as a flag of surrender (Confederate Flag). However, the Civil War ended on April 2, 1865, so the real Confederate flag got little use (Confederate States of America).
