Argumentative Essay: The High Cost Of College

Did you know that the expense of college is one the main reason why everyone can not go. In my opinion college is too expensive. The expenses of college is an issue for many high school seniors. Even though I’m not in college yet I know a lot of people struggling to come up with the money to send their child to college. Some do not have the funds to do it. My grandmother said that she believes that the parents should plan to start saving money to send their child or children to school early so that when the time comes it will not be a big issue. For example, the parent could put a $100 dollars a month into a savings account to fund their child to go to college. If they continue this for 18 years they will have save about $39,666 for their child’s education. Then again some parents can’t afford to pay their bill let alone sit aside money for the future. I admit going to college is worth it because it can lead to great pay jobs, careers. In college you have to pay for tuition, housing, meal plans, books, parking passes and more. There are excellent colleges/universities all over the world but especially in North Carolina. Duke, NC State, Chapel Hill, and NCCU just to name a few. For example, I plan to attend North Carolina Central University. It is an outstanding University but it is not cheap.

If the the students only had to try and make enough for a 2 year college then there would be no problem but since it is a 4 year college the money gap is just too much. Tuition varies between In-State and Out-of-State students. Tuition for an In-State student is about $3,750, while the tuition for an Out-Of-State student is about $9,760. Tuition fees include several necessities such as transportation, medical, student activities, eagle card and more. I personally do not think it is fair that Out-Of-State students have to pay so much more than In-State
