If a married couple are experiencing life damaging situations then it is formulating unhealthy traits in one another’s lives as well as the (if any) children. The potential of divorce is adequate if a union is dynamically damaging the core of a family foundation in the sense of demolition. If the individuals are unwilling to give any effort to the relationship it is establishing unhealthy habits that will lead to behaviors that are not under God’s approval. According to 1 Peter 3:7, “Husbands, in the same way be considerate as you live with your wives, and treat them with respect as the weaker partner and as heirs with you of the gracious gift of life, so that nothing will hinder your prayers.” (New International Version) If a family union is not working in a direction of progression and is not able to find ability to overcome the challenges because of a reason of dangerous circumstances, divorce might ultimately be the best result for a married couple and family. Marriage is not only impacting to a husband and wife but to the children, the dynamics of a home is what sets standards and values for our…

“The advantage to marriages with low expectations is that they have built in shock absorbers.” If the couple discovers that they have nothing in common, it is not so much of a reason for divorce at it is what is expected of most marriage. Based on this same way of thinking, disagreements or disappointments, such as an affair, are not as traumatic and are in fact traditionally tolerated in the case of a husband’s infidelity. Incidences such as these don’t automatically point straight to divorce, as most wives see it as a mutual failure and can use the opportunity to look for ways of improving themselves so that it does not continually happen in the future.…

Hey Joani, I really enjoyed reading your post. I will have to agree with you that one of the reasons divorce is more common is because of the expectation of the spouse to meet the partner's emotional needs. When those emotional needs are not met this can leave the husband or wife feeling unhappy and frustrated. According to Henslin, this is called, “an overloaded institution” (2014, p. 358). “Because these expectations place a heavy burden on marriage, often more than it can manage, sociologists refer to today’s marriage and family as an overloaded institution” (Henslin, 2014, p. 358).…

Divorce is usually not a word many people like to hear, because it means the dissolving of a marriage. “Divorce isn't any old crisis. It's not a tornado. It's not a death in the family. It's a very specific crisis of the breakdown of the relationship between the main man and the main woman in the child's life”,(“Mediated Divorce Is Best for Children”). A child's life can be made better or it can be made worst with a divorce. It could help their future life from leaving a horrible family life or distorting the future relationships the child may one day have. From the child's point of view their parents failed to keep things together. She failed to keep the husband and he failed to keep the wife. Proponents argue that a divorce can have positive…

It’s easy to ignore the ugly things – for example, that your spouse might be a little too controlling. You don’t realize the full impact on how it degrades you and devalues your identity, until it has destroyed you enough to where you feel you cannot survive without the abuser.…
