We all need to consider that even though America has foster care for homeless kids, other countries may not. According to Borgen Magazine, at one orphanage in China, a 2 year old girl was starved to death while living there. Not just this girl, but 90% of the girls at this orphanage died. Mr. Rutstein, a citizen of China said,“huge, huge areas of social service policy are way behind.” To add on, a Russian orphanage abused 3 children, from 7 months to 3 years were hospitalized. …show more content…
It occurs to me that America’s population is growing by the day, but as US citizens, we have the right to the pursuit of happiness.
So, why shouldn’t we be able to adopt foreign kids if that’s what makes us happy? It even says it on the 2nd paragraph, 1st sentence of the Declaration of Independence. “All men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” And, in addition it says, “Government, laying its foundation on such principles and organizing its powers in such form, as to them shall seem most likely to effect their Safety and
Happiness.”
I would also have to say that by doing this, you are providing a child a home. You are helping a child in need. 35,100 children are internationally adopted each year. If this was banned, 35,100 kids probably wouldn’t get a home. In addition, some other countries DO have foster care, and just like moving to a new school, children in foster care move on average 7 times. Last, I myself am friends with a family who adopted a boy internationally, and he’s so cute, that I can’t imagine him not being a part of their family.
People may say that America already has enough people, or that the child may want to be with a family of the same race. But, I can’t say I agree this, because from my view, this child could soon be calling their parents mom and dad. Soon you will understand this child is no different than the children in foster care here, needing a home and a loving family. People often forget that homeless children just want a family. And that’s why the obvious choice of international adoption, is that it should be legal to everyone in America.
