The barker who was once the king who was the man, has in the end, become the opposite of what he becomes. so much so, Ferguson compares the man, to that of a freak show where people or things are ridiculed and humiliated for who they are, and while it was exactly like that, the metaphor used showed him how far below in status and power he has. Ferguson then also uses the specific symbolism in different parts of the poem to help express the metaphors he uses.
Ferguson explains that the two things that symbolized who the man was, was his crown and his mountain, the crown representing his status, and the mountain representing his possessions .The reason so, Like I was explaining earlier, was because the king is of the highest of status, so in order to not only show, but to prove he has obtained that said status, you would need land a crown to let people now if you're actually legitimate. So when ferguson wrote,
