The core values of the Royal Logistic Corp are Selfless Commitment, Respect for Others, Loyalty, Integrity, Discipline, and Courage which are broken down to the acronym SOLID C. These are the basic values that soldiers in the Royal Logistic Corp are expected to up hold. Since the British Army has been deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan there are numerous examples of these being upheld but it is important for these to be upheld when soldiers are not on Operations.
Selfless commitment in the Army is a part of everyday life putting the team first and being able to think of others before yourself. If one member of a team or section doesn’t follow this value then there will be a drop in moral in the team and more importantly the mission …show more content…
will fail.
If the British Army is going to succeed there has to be respect. Respect for the rank structure but also respect for each other so no one feels that they are being harassed or discriminated against because of their gender, race, religious views or sexual orientation.
There has to be a great deal of loyalty in the British Army, having the ability to help and if necessary look after your fellow soldiers through the hard times as well as the hard times.
All of the core values are important but in my opinion Integrity is the most important.
Owning up to something if you have done it or as basic as telling the truth makes life a lot easier and friends come to respect you more if you’re just honest.
The British Army is the most professional army in the world, a lot of this is down to the discipline of its soldiers. In the army discipline is taken seriously, things like turning up on time and Ironing your uniform for a parade all make a well disciplined soldier and all these things prepare soldiers for an operational tour or an exercise in the field. Having self discipline is also important, not going out drinking every night and simple things like preparing for the next day all make up a well disciplined soldier. The general opinion of the public is that the soldiers of the British Army are brave and have a lot of courage which is true but there are two types of courage, moral and physical. Moral courage is the ability to stand up for what you believe in whether its helping someone who is being bullied or not bowing to peer pressure and doing something just because everyone else is. Physical courage is what the British Army is most associated with. The soldiers on the front line who on a daily basis put there lives on the line of which some pay the ultimate
price.
The Royal Logistic Corp has a set of values and soldiers uphold these values to a very high standard, this is what sets the British Army apart and why we are the most professional Army in the world.
