Egyptian pyramid fresco painter in Pharaoh Khufu tomb
My name is Adofo and I live in Giza, Egypt and I am 24 years old. I am a fresco painter in Pharaoh Khufu tomb. I love my job, my life is filled with a special excitement every time I pick up a paintbrush. My masterpieces will forever mean something to me and I will always look forward to painting and sharing my talent with others, but it wasn’t always like this. Here is a little about my story.
As a child I used to roam all of Egypt. I loved my great country, there was so much incredible deep, rich history behind it, who wouldn’t want to learn about it. My brothers and I used to run all around the sand dunes, and play hide and seek around the pyramids. I would go to school at the temples and learn all about our great culture and traditions of ancient Egypt, but one thing would always be on my mind and that is art. I loved art. When I was a young child I would always design new temples, and pyramids in the sand. I loved to paint, I would make my own paint and draw on anything I possibly could. I was passionate about it all. Father and mother always supported my art, but they expected me to follow father’s footsteps and become a scriber. I didn’t want to be a scriber. I wanted to be a painter. I wanted to design the newest, most beautiful pyramid in Egypt. It was a big dream, but I was determined to make it happen. I would be the greatest painter Egypt has ever seen. My father was a scriber. It was an honor where we were from to have this position. To be a scriber you had to be chosen. After you were chosen you would go to school for many years, and you would study to learn how to read and write. Father wanted me to follow his footsteps because it was such an honor. The chosen ones were lucky to be able to learn so much, and to have so much knowledge. I love my family, and I’ll always honor my father, but I did not want to be a
