In today’s society, self-reliance is hard to accomplish and I’m not self-reliant. There are multiple factors that are holding me back from being self-reliant. First, social norm prevents me from being self-reliant, due to the fact that I’m greatly concerned with what people judge of me. When I wake up in the morning to choose my outfit I often decide based on what other people will see of me in the outfit. Keeping the popular trends or latest styles in mind, I choose my outfit. Next, technology holds me back from self-reliance, on the grounds that I’m deeply connected to my electronics and often find myself spending more time on the internet rather than with friends or family.
