These questions can be used by students as a guide when analysing their own work and the work of other artists. Citation Artist: Title of Artwork: Size: Location: Date: Form: (drawing, painting, sculpture, photography; printmaking, mixed media, design, architecture, graphics, textiles, installation, performance, 4D, earth art... Cultural Analysis 1. What artists/artworks/art movements have inspired the artwork? 2. What messages does the art work carry? 3. How does the artwork reflect the artists world/ideas/beliefs? 4. How does the artwork reflect the culture in which it was made? Subjective Analysis 1. How has the artist explored his/her feelings and emotions? 2. What is your personal opinion of the work? (likes/dislikes...) 3. What improvements/ additions could be made? 4. How does the artwork make you feel? (calm, reflective, nervous, uneasy, amused, shocked...) 5. Who is the intended audience? Postmodern Analysis 1. What traditional ideas/techniques have been used? 2. What unconventional or unusual ideas/techniques have been used? 3. How has the artist used past artworks as inspiration? 4.
