The ruler at the time was Tupa Inca Yupanqui who lead his people to defeat the Chacapoya people. Before the attacks accurred the Chacapoya people were preparing for nearly two years, because they knew the Incas where coming to take over. The battles where very fierce and the Chacapoya people didn’t leave without a fight. The fort of Kuelepa provably put a big battle against the Inca people, and was probably hard to overtake. After fierce battles the Inca people defeated the people of Chacapoya. After they were defeated they were governed under there ruler, but they still manage to put miner resistance against them.
A few years after the conquest of the Inca, the Spanish arrived. Much of the information that we do know today was also provided by Garcilaso de la Vega and Pedro Cieza, which where poets and soldiers from Spain. Thus when the Spanish came to Central America the remaining Chaacapoya people decided to join the Spanish forces instead of fighting for the Inca
