1- How does the use of the Internet, intranets, and extranets by companies today support their business processes and activities?
In a feat to succeed in the ever evolving and volatile competition of the contemporary global market, where the number of competitors within industries is rapidly rising, it has become imperative for businesses to restructure how they operate and how they use technologies like the internet, intranets and extranets to compete in transnational business. These technologies have modified the operation of business activities in business organizations (Bradley & Lee, 2007). Today, companies can link their offices and share data and information with much efficacy and efficiency. Nonetheless, over reliance on internet, intranets and extranets also leads to severe competition and rivalry in the marketplace for businesses. Hence, these technologies combined with new initiatives will transform their functions in the business world to aid the success of organizations and give them a competitive advantage (Nicole, 2015).
The system of collaboration in enterprises requires the utilization of software packages to sustain coordination, collaboration and communication amongst members of interconnected teams and groups at work. Companies make use of internet, intranets and extranets to put these systems into operation (Henderson & Divett, 2003). To exemplify this, employees of organisations and external consultants/correspondence may create virtual teams that makes use of a business intranet and internet for video conferencing, media discussion groups and emails for progressive information to work jointly on business projects.
