Governments end up with their relations so tattered that war is the only choice because of sanctions. The common people end up destitute, hungry, and so scared they stay loyal to the very leaders that put them in this poor situation. Even businesses of the nation who is, from the global community's perspective, in the right end up suffering the same if not worse losses than the ones located in the nation which the sanctions apply to. Sanctions are an indirect and poor foreign policy that as shown is clearly in need to be replaced. Foreign policies such as treaties are a far superior peaceful foreign policy tactic as they are direct and quick. Faster policies would improve upon trade sanctions as the nation's don’t end up in a stalemate where both are losing out economically and indirectly harming their citizens as shown by Cuba whose long term trade sanctions have put them in a difficult situation. Treaties are signed at the end of the war usually in the favor of the winner, however if both nations were to form a compromise a type of prewar treaty tactic could allow for nations to reach a diplomatic solution far earlier than previous systems would allow. Clearly this solution has drawbacks in areas like difficulty to form such a treaty between nations that already have poor relations, but it is better than trade sanctions not for its speed, but rather it’s not having the unwanted side effects that make trade sanctions not
