An act amended in1986 and signed by Bill Clinton a right of privacy to individual that is placed to improve portability and protects health insurance coverage for workers and their families of fraud and abuse in health care delivery protection of patients information such as electronic health care transactions and national identifiers for providers, health insurance plans, and employers
It is used in all healthcare industry it is a privacy rule which covers all identity information of a patient that is admitted in a hospital or maintained by the healthcare provider It protects patient’s information that can be transferred by email, electronic, fax, paper, oral, and voice mail records, as well as phone conversations.

It is a range of data, including demographics, medical history, medication and allergies, immunization status, laboratory test results, radiology images, vital signs, personal statistics like age and weight, and billing information
