In this assignment you will use the knowledge gained from the training to evaluate current network at your office and re-design entire network to best use the available resources and reduce operational expenditure and capital investments for the next five years at your office. You will turn in a paper describing existing network at your office, as well as an additional paper for the proposed network infrastructure for your office.
Your office network must: allow users to share a high-speed Internet connection (Cable or DSL). allow sufficient printers to be shared on the network. assume that the network is to be in your office in your island, so that the Internet Service Provider (ISP) will be for your island. allow central file storage allow central backup mechanism allow users to access government network (GEMS)
Paper - Existing Network. Your paper must describe your office network and the technology used. The paper must include
1. (10pts) A large, annotated, complete diagram of your network. The diagram must show the computers in the network, Internet connection, and physical layer items (e.g. wires, hub, router, etc, if appropriate). The diagram should be an original drawing done by you using computer drawing such as PowerPoint (although you can use clip art and real pictures of components as part of the diagram if you wish).
2. A written description of the diagram. For each part of the network, as shown in your diagram, write a few paragraphs describing the part. In particular your written description should answer at least these questions:
a. (5pts) What Internet connection did your office has and the limitations and drawback of the existing connection.
b. (5pts) What are is the topology used in the existing network and a brief description of the topology.
3. (5pts) On the diagram write the IP address, Gateway IP address, and DNS server IP address, and MAC (physical) address of a computer in the network. Next to each address, write a sentence
