Throughout these 3 days I did not eat much sweets or sugars that could be considered “empty calories”.
2. Compare your 3-day average intake to the recommendations (target) for calories, protein and carbohydrate.
Total Calories vs Target:
My average intake of calories was 1506 calories out of a goal of 2000. I believe that I didn't meet the recommended requirements because often times I get busy and find myself skipping a meal. To ensure that I meet the calorie goal I will pack a lunch the night before, so in the morning when i'm running late or am having a busy day and can't find the time to stop and get something I will have a meal already prepared.
Protein (grams AND % calories):
My average percent of calories that fell under in the category of protein was 19%. The target was 10-30%. Likewise, on average I consumed 73 grams of protein and the goal was 46 grams. I met the target from both grams and the amount of calories that came from protein. …show more content…
The percentage of the average amount of calories that were carbohydrates is 19% and I was aiming anywhere from 10-30%. Overall, I met the target on both percentage and grams of carbohydrates.
The amount of Fiber that I consumed on average was 13 grams and the goal was 26 grams. I did not meet the target. To make improvements in this area I will need to eat more fiber. Foods with fiber that I could eat would be blackberries, raspberries or avocados.
The AHA recommendation for “added sugars” in the diet is 25 grams for women and I consumed 21 grams. This is not a surprise to me because I don't normally eat a lot of sugar. I will continue doing what i'm doing to keep the amount of added sugars that I eat and drink under the recommended
