The text You Can't Touch Me is about primary school-teacher Ian Goade, who intervenes as he spots a group of boys bullying a younger one. His reaction is to rush to help the little one, and then turning to deal with the older boys. The leader of the group, Campbell, is refusing to take any scolding Goade might have for him, and is defying him by talking back and refusing to go to the headmistress's office. Goade then reacts by grabbing the boys arm in order to drag him to the office. When the boy resists and try to break free, Goade grabs Campbells ear, remembering this move from his own teachers. Now all hell breaks loose. After being dragged by the ear all the way to the headmistress office, Campbell goes home to tell his mother that Goade has abused him. After taking the boy to the doctor, she complaints to the headmistress, demanding that Goade should, at the very least, be reprimanded. Resulting in an official hearing in September.

Ian Goade is a primary school-teacher, whose father was abusive. He is a rather normally functioning man, although he might have a slightly misshapen idea of what is okay to do to children, and what is not. Dragging them by the ear, for example, is considered outdated and wrong, just like beating is. He doesn't like conflicts due to his fathers rages, but won't just passively watch as someone else is bullied or otherwise harmed.
He is not a deliberately bad or evil man, he just reacted as he saw fit at the given moment.

I think Mrs. Baynes, the headmistress, handle the situation as best she can. On one side she has a crying kid and a raging mother claiming that what happened was an adult “betraying the trust” of the child and abusing him. On the other side she has an employee who might have acted a bit harsh, but who claims that there was a justifying reason for his actions. And on a third side she has the school reputation to defend. She cannot allow the parents of the students to believe that
