Assingment B (Analysis of "You Can't Touch Me")
Assignment B

1)
The text You Can't Touch Me is about primary school-teacher Ian Goade, who intervenes as he spots a group of boys bullying a younger one. His reaction is to rush to help the little one, and then turning to deal with the older boys. The leader of the group, Campbell, is refusing to take any scolding Goade might have for him, and is defying him by talking back and refusing to go to the headmistress's office. Goade then reacts by grabbing the boys arm in order to drag him to the office. When the boy resists and try to break free, Goade grabs Campbells ear, remembering this move from his own teachers. Now all hell breaks loose. After being dragged by the ear all the way to the headmistress office, Campbell goes home to tell his mother that Goade has abused him. After taking the boy to the doctor, she complaints to the headmistress, demanding that Goade should, at the very least, be reprimanded. Resulting in an official hearing in September.

2)
Ian Goade is a primary school-teacher, whose father was abusive. He is a rather normally functioning man, although he might have a slightly misshapen idea of what is okay to do to children, and what is not. Dragging them by the ear, for example, is considered outdated and wrong, just like beating is. He doesn't like conflicts due to his fathers rages, but won't just passively watch as someone else is bullied or otherwise harmed.
He is not a deliberately bad or evil man, he just reacted as he saw fit at the given moment.

3)
I think Mrs. Baynes, the headmistress, handle the situation as best she can. On one side she has a crying kid and a raging mother claiming that what happened was an adult “betraying the trust” of the child and abusing him. On the other side she has an employee who might have acted a bit harsh, but who claims that there was a justifying reason for his actions. And on a third side she has the school reputation to defend. She cannot allow the parents of the students to believe that

On Monday February 29, the custodial staff at the Middle School Building at St. George’s Independent School called the police station to state that they had found a dead body lying face down in the office of room M223. There was no evident cause of death: no obvious trauma, no gunshot wounds, no puncture wounds, but blood was found on and around the body. There were cups of dr. pepper and a sticky note pad along with some other evidence found on the crime scene. An officer interviewed the Middle School Director, Mrs. Lori Williamson, and was informed that Felix Navidad was hired to evaluate the efficiency and productivity of the seventh grade faculty. He would make recommendations for salary adjustments and staffing decisions. I believe that Tara Mae Mulroy should be charged with the murder of…

Consider the various participants: The people that should be interested in this case should include the parents, school administrators, and the teachers and/or paraprofessionals in the classroom. Since it appears that there was no intentional wrongdoing by the teachers, the administrators are probably understanding of both sides of this particular situation. However, the parents are going to want to know where their money went. It indicated that a lunch costs between $5 and $6. As for the teachers and/or paraprofessionals in this particular classroom, there is an understanding they mishandled the situation; however, they do not believe there is any intentional wrongdoing. They only used the funds given to them for classroom materials and purposes. With the information provided, I am not sure if all facts have been adequately communicated to all parties involved. I think parents have the right to more detailed information about how the money was spent by the teacher, such as supplying…

This took place at Taft Union High School near Bakersfield, California. This school shooting started because the student was a victim of bullying and he wanted revenge. The student came to school and shot one student and missed another. He called the student who was bullying him, and the came out of hiding and apologized, but the teacher, Ryan Heber, interrupted and he came face to face with the 16- year-old student, who was armed. Heber wasn’t sure with this if the student was either, going to put the weapon down or continue shooting. While the student was distracted, Supervisor Kim Fields took the rest of the students so they could escape. Finally, the shooter surrendered and the police took the student into custody. Friday, the next day, school was cancelled due to the situation, but counseling sessions were held that morning for teachers or students who wished to attend. Before Heber spoke to the shooter, the student who was shot in the process was in a critical, yet a stable condition. Kern County Sheriff, Donny Youngblood said “The name of the student wasn’t released, and is debating whether he will be charged as an adult or not.” KDET reported “Heber is a well-known and liked science teacher and was a graduate at Taft and with the situation the Heber family will be there for him with emotional support.” The Taft shooting was the latest school shooting in the U.S., and it launched a big debate whether teachers should carry weapons to protect themselves and others in case of another shooting. Immediately after the shooting, parents went to the school to pick up their children and express concern about the school security. A parent reported “We’re going to protect our students a lot more, and it goes to show that there is one bad apple out there.”…

The main theme of the story is domestic violence. It made me realise how strongly opinionated I am on the topic and it sickens me to read how Enrique, the main characters brother is violently beaten by his father at a very young age for completely nonsensical reasons on several occasions. For example he beat him for getting dirt on the carpet and another time for going over a stone while mowing the lawns. ‘Dad backhanded him and blood came to his lips, he called him and idiot and incompetent. He backhanded him again.’ I cannot personally relate to this but it infuriates me to read knowing this carries on in our society.…

On a day to day basis within a school building, there are a countless number rumors spread among peers or groups of people, sometimes in cliques. Therefore, there is often to be drama between two people or multiple people if the spreading of certain rumors reaches the wrong person. False accusations can be spread like a raging wildfire throughout schools, and can end up in confrontations between opposing forces of people. Sometimes these confrontations are from true allegations, but however, often people fight over trivial matters that could have also quite easily averted. Drama within schools is just another example of allegations that can ultimately culminate in unnecessary or unwanted…

At Duncanville High School World History class the teacher Julie Phung had been lack in teaching her student all year. But one day student Jeff Bliss got fed up with her teaching strategies and decided to give his opinion about the way she teach and encourage her to teaching a different strategies that she learn them. If you can just get up and teach them instead of handing them a freakin’ packet, yo (Bliss, 2013). There are kids in here who don’t learn like that, they need to teach face-to-face (Bliss, 2013). This was not a set up but the student Jeff Bliss was tired and angry about the way he was learning so he did something about it. The students can benefits from teaching if you have effective strategies and teacher need to improve her way of teaching. Student Jeff Bliss will lose because he will get suspended and teacher will get view by the board. The position I take on this issue that student Jeff Bliss should not confront her in public but wait until after class in a calm voice. I believe she did great by telling him to leave but not saying that any student are waste her time.…

Our memories and experiences from a young age shape our reality and what we see as our identity. As youngsters our understanding of who we are is very little. We are often too worried about seeking adventure and amusement that we do not take into consideration much our identity and who we really are. We all have an identity and how much we understand of it has a lot to do with how our memories and experiences have shaped our realities to who we are today. Through experiences and memories we build for ourselves a reality and we can see this through Keith and his experiences with his domineering father. Through experiencing abuse from his father and control, Keith builds a reality for in which he mirrors his father’s trait in possessing dominance and control over his one and only friend, Stephen. This signifies how Keith’s experience leads him to hold an identity of an oppressor when he is in is his own playing field with people his age. Likewise, as we go through school we see bullies and right them off as horrible people. But often are these bullies’ victims themselves of abuse and themselves use abuse on others to free their minds of the burden of their own trauma. What they understand of their identity consists of oppression both on the receiving and distributing ends of…
