Athena's Argumentative Essay
On Athena’s annual visit to the soldiers of the battlefield, she discovered a biting problem: the warriors received little rest in between their ceaseless marches and tours in enemy territory. While waging and fighting war, these men struggled under the watchful eyes of Ares—pugnacious, warring, fierce—when invading and conquering outside threats, and Athena—calculating, wise, mindful—when defending and protecting the home. The lack of rest contributed directly to a noticeable instability among the ranks and desertions that would often leave the armies weak and unconsolidated. Such inefficiency was the cause of lost battles and men in otherwise vital situations. The daughter of Zeus, in light of this, believed that a solution was necessary to help the soldiers prosper on the fields of war. She turned to the break they received during their downtime before and after battles. It was never long; a quick meal, a short nap; in the evening, they attempted to take a rest that was often never completely restful. In fact, at night, the soldiers were often restless, unable to sleep due to their fear …show more content…
It seemed impossible, and unnecessary, to bring the home directly to these soldiers, but why not the thought and hope that home inspires? Athena, always a believer of the mind, formed the dream: a more tangible, genuine, and powerful form of a normal conscious and imagination, implanting it within the thoughts of the soldiers that would activate during a night’s rest. With Hestia’s aid, the goddesses managed to ingrain the warmth and familiarity of home within these dreams—perhaps with the remains of Pandora’s box—while keeping them free. Dreams represented one’s desires, one’s wishes, one’s understanding, and one’s ability to imagine. Anyone, without even the real need or focus, was now able to receive the beauty of comfort, family, and home right in their invigorating rest at

Throughout the United States, sexism is a defining role in the choices that are made concerning who can and cannot perform a certain task the most efficient and safe. Fighting on the front line, in a Combat Unit, is one of those tasks that certainly takes special skills and integrity that not many people possess. Throughout reading and analyzing Coed Combat Units—A Bad Idea on All Counts, many informative, thought-provoking, and straight forward points were addressed concerning women working along-side of men on the front line in the United States Military. While growing up and still to this day, I have always believed that men should be the only ones fighting for our great country, no because a woman cannot keep up, but because men were basically built to fight in the military.…

This is a third POV story, set when Juliet was sent away from England to the Bahamas "for the good of her health". As Juliet was disconnected due to her separation from her family, I used few emotions coming from her, herself. I used her obsession with the "king and queen" book as a subtle reference to Borovnia. I made the child, Richard, five years old because Juliet has a personality younger than her age, and she ends up copying Richard. With this piece I was portraying the origins of Juliet's melodramatic personality. Juliet thinking she had scars was a good thing was also started here by Mary's "pushover" personality.…

Soldiers from all the different periods of time have faced the hardships of war. In history, there have been millions of troops. One of the soldiers to compare is Odysseus from Homer’s “The Odyssey. The other are soldiers from the second world war. In Homer’s The Odyssey, Odysseus experiences are similar to those of modern soldiers returning from war, such as the deaths of their fellow soldiers, the amount of time for which they left, and the ill treatment they faced when returning home. All soldiers experienced hardships. These experiences were proved to be obstacles for both soldiers, even though they came from different time periods.…

Once, the very sight and sound of an advancing line of Spartan soldiers had been enough to break the nerve of opponents, even before the shock of arms. In their signature scarlet capes, nodding horsehair helmet plumes, and close-ordered shields, each emblazoned with L (lambda, for 'Lacedaemon' or 'Laconia,' two names for the Spartan home territory), the Spartans appeared as a series of rippling horizontal lightning bolts, the unbroken lines of warriors striding forward in measured lock-step to the shrill music of military pipers. Their capacity to move quickly over difficult terrain, concentrate their forces suddenly, and execute complex pre-battle tactical maneuvers was legendary. The shock of their final charge was as sure and deadly as the sky-god Zeus's thunder weapon.…

The history of wars and battles can be dated back almost to the beginning of time and has since been a prominent motif in stories from various cultures and religions. Centuries later, descriptions of fighting styles to warriors to weapons, has greatly evolved. Despite the constant evolution of the ways fighting is portrayed, one thing has remained consistent over the years: the reason for initiating war. When a man’s pride is wounded, the idea that he will stop at nothing to restore it, can be seen throughout literature in many different cultures. Through the malicious and extravagant battles exhibited in The Iliad, the idea that vengeance is sought once an individual's pride has been harmed and can only be resolved by combat, is developed.…

First of all, for Aristotle, humans are intended to be rational. Similarly for Epictetus “what it is to be a human being, is to be a rational mortal creature” (Graver, 2015). The term “rational” means to think things through over and over before deciding to do an action. Aristotle uses this term to explain that “the good is one whose actions as a rule are solidly based on excellent reasoning and who spends a great amount of time thinking” (SOMETHING).…

    Plato's Argument Analysis

To Plato, there existed fundamental patterns in the universe, Forms so pure and unblemished that most people will never know them, even as they act as existence in its purest form. All around us, everyday objects toe the line between these pure existences, never committing to one yet never abandoning one. To those few who could gaze upon these paradigms and look beyond the pale imitations in every object, Plato gave the name Philosophers. In the Book V of the Republic, Plato’s definition of philosophers is essential in illustrating the closest possible parallel in real life to his model city by taking account of the occasion of the argument and acting as the foundation of his argument.…

    Essay On Greek Myths

“The characters, stories, themes and lessons of Greek mythology have shaped art and literature for thousands of years. They appear in Renaissance paintings such as Botticelli’s Birth of Venus and Raphael’s Triumph of Galatea and writings like Dante’s Inferno; Romantic poetry and libretti; and scores of more recent novels, plays and films.” I think that it is great that the ancient Greeks came up with these myths. When I first started reading and listening about the Greek myths, I thought they were totally absurd. However, I now think that some myths tell entertaining stories and teach great lessons. Through this paper I will tell you about one of the myths we share today in our culture, share what Sigmund Freud and Carl Jung had to say about mythic structures of the human psyche, and explain why myths such as these bring us together socially and culturally. Within it there is a give and pull between the gods and mortal men as well as relation between Greeks and non- Greeks, the barbarians.…

A hero is someone that will always be willing to help and take any major risk. This paragraph will explain how Zeus is a hero because he has demonstrated Bravery, Sharing, and his powerfulness.…
