Is Authoritative Leadership more Effective than Collaborative Leadership?
In life, the concept of leadership is brought up very often whether it is in childhood, adolescence, or adulthood. It is an extremely valuable and rare personality to possess as not many people are born leaders. By having experience as a leader, one gets separated from the rest of society from strength. There are two main types of leadership: authoritative leadership and collaborative leadership. Besides the three figures mentioned earlier, a figure that is all about authoritative leadership is Lady Macbeth. Lady Macbeth, a character in the novel Macbeth, gets as authoritative as one can be. This woman makes many of the decisions for her husband Macbeth. Macbeth has many decisions to make throughout the novel and most of them are caused by Lady Macbeth. For example, Lady Macbeth makes the decision to have Macbeth kill Duncan. Macbeth cannot seem to make his own decisions since Lady Macbeth is so controlling and a great authoritative leader. “Come you spirits that tend on mortal thoughts, unsex me here, and fill me, from the crown to the toe, top-full of direst cruelty!” (1.5 41-44). This quote proves how Lady Macbeth is the authoritative leader. By being the authoritative leader, Lady Macbeth does the decision-making for Macbeth. When Lady Macbeth says this quote, she is referring to changing her gender from a female to a male metaphorically because she is the one with all the power. By pushing Macbeth in killing Duncan, the decision was done efficiently. Otherwise, if Lady Macbeth did not push for this decision, Macbeth would have taken much longer to make the decision, or he may have not killed Duncan at all. This results in fast and efficient decision-making. By having fast and efficient decision-making everything becomes much easier since arguing will not be a
