As a result of early criticisms of the leadership trait approach, theorists started to research leadership as a set of behaviors. They assessed what effective leaders did, created catalogs of actions, and identified expansive patterns that indicated different leadership styles.…
Leadership is defined as “a process whereby an individual influences a group of individuals to achieve a common goal” (Northouse, 2007). Managers, supervisors, and team leads are given the authority to accomplish certain tasks and objectives, however this power does not make a person a leader. This assigned authority only means that this person is “the boss.” Leadership differs in that it makes the followers want to achieve goals rather than bossing people around (Rowe, 2007). In other words, one can be assigned to a leadership position but one without such designated title can be a leader by influencing others to do great things.…

Leadership is a term with a variety of definitions depending on the context that it’s been defined. One common definition of leadership is “the behavior of an individual directing the activities of a group toward a shared goal.” The following paragraphs would elaborate on one major approach of studying leadership, its strengths and weakness, and an example in which it was used in an organization. (Yukl, 2010)…

I would like to start by saying that despite numerous definitions leadership is the creative process of leading people, making them do what perhaps they do not want to do, but do it with pleasure. Leadership has numerous approaches and thus is represented by numerous theories starting with the theory of traits and behaviors and ending with the modern contingency theory and the transformational approaches.…
Leadership can be defined as a process by which one individual influences others toward the attainment of group or organizational goals. There are three points about leadership that should be emphasized. First, leadership is a social influence process. Leadership cannot exist without a leader and one or more followers. Second, leadership elicits voluntary action on the part of followers. The voluntary nature of compliance separates leadership from other types of influence based on formal authority. Finally, leadership results in followers ' behavior that is purposeful and goal-directed in some sort of organized setting. Many although not all, studies of leadership focus on the nature of leadership in the workplace (Advameg Inc., 2010).…

Leadership is most commonly associated with group activity and group processes (Schminke, M. 2002). It is basic group dynamics that groups tend confirm, this tendency to conform may be either functional or dysfunctional for groups. To much conformity may lead to “groupthink”, a phenomenon in which members of a group tend to conform to each other (Schminke, M. 2002).…
Back in October of 2013, I toke this class and received a C+ now I’m taking it again, in 2013 under different circumstance I wasn’t prepared for this class, but this time around things are a little different. Now I am supposed to do a research depicting how different leadership theories apply to your chosen school setting. Things haven’t changed I’m choosing my school to write about while taking the course studies. Edith Robinson Christian Academy (ERCA) in Fort Lauderdale, Florida is a unique private school. (ERCA) proudly uses the slogan, “Love lives here.” In the simplest of terms, this is what Edith Robinson Christian Academy offers the at-risk-youth of Fort Lauderdale, Florida—children, teens, and young adults who may not often hear that they are valued, believed in, and loved. Driven by a philosophy that you can never give up on a child, Edith Robinson Christian Academy staff actively seeks out youth who have been thrown out of school, are unable to reach their full potential in a traditional school or are barred from other programs. This passionate organization helps them change their lives—and realize their full potential. I’m currently the owner but in 2013 I was the owner, Principal, teacher, cafeteria (cook), transportation, etc. whatever it took believe me I did it. Well this school year I have a staff; Principal, five teacher, two cafeteria worker, one security, two transportation driver, and myself the Director of Schools. The grade levels we deal with are from K though 12. In 2013 I we had to pick a leadership theory that best fits your program. I’m to pick a minimum of three different leadership article from Grand Canyon University elibrary. So this time around my position at the school hasn’t change, but I’m more so the true leader here and I have to have my staff understand the direction or vision I have for the…
My Taxonomy on Leaderships contrasts and compares four leadership theories. The leadership principles discussed in the Taxonomy include the trait-based, servant leadership, transactional leadership and transformational leadership theories. Trait-based theories are the earliest attempts to study leaders and leadership effectiveness by concentrating on distinctive skills and traits of the individual. Servant Leadership is a servant to others, one by putting the needs of their customers, employees and communities first. Transactional Leadership is based on the setting of clear objectives and goals for either punishments or rewards in order to encourage compliance with those goals. Lastly,…
Leadership defined as “ focusing the efforts of a group of people toward a common goal and enabling them to work as a team. In general terms, leadership is the ability to get things done through others” (PMI, 2013, p.513). The leadership impact all the levels of organizations such as personal space, team space, and organizational space (Wong, 2007), these impact depends on the relationship between the spaces and the authority of leaders to manage both bad and good behaviors.…
