It is important for us as educators to help advocate for the parents because a lot of the time the parents might not know what they are supposed to do to help their child. Also, they might not have the resources they need so it is our job is to help them gather those resources to better benefit the child. It shouldn’t be so difficult to get the things we need to help children with disabilities especially children with Autism. But unfortunately that can be the case at times, so it’s our job as teachers, administrators and most importantly, parents to get those rights for children with Autism because sometimes they can’t advocate for themselves. In conclusion, it is our job as advocates to help parents get their child the right and help they need and deserve. Also to teach children with autism that they can advocate for themselves, it is important to show them that they have rights too and deserve to be treated equally. This is a subject that is very close to my heart and that’s why I chose to write about it. I have seen first hand that children with autism don’t always get the rights they deserve or the tools that they need to help them be a successful student and overall person.
