Today was the day that she saw no future for herself. She was at the end of the road herself. One final step. One final move. That was all she could do. Within her abilities, limited as it was. And she didn't have any options that she found desirable.
Perhaps some will say that she should have it in her to end their suffering. But she could never. Not anyone of them. They were her children, even if it was expected she will not do so. Besides, she has never fully embraced all of their ideals.
She asked Ayame to enter. “From now on, I will have to serve a new master.” She doesn't look happy about that.

“So shall it be, my lady.” Ayame stepped out. Inviting her eldest son inside, a boy who was well aware of the changes. That his father will never return. He will nerve step foot again, but that is not important. He was in danger. His entire clan lost their surname as it is, no longer of any importance to the court.
She took out the small ring. A signet of crows with a sun. “This is the signet I used to have, and please take care of yourself.” This will be her final time she can hold any of her children. “Promise me that you will take care of
