Azim Fahim is a 37 year old person who has fled from Afghanistan to Australia. He left Afghanistan because of the war and inner clash inside the nation, every day was a battle to stay alive. Azim is a married man to an unlawful Jewellery seller, aged 35. He has a child who is 12 years of age, he is taught by his mom at their tiny home in Afganinstan. Sharbat Fahim, Azim’s spouse experienced her childhood in a stable and reasonably safe home a long separation far from war and strife. Therefore, she was educated and went to school. Sharbat attempted to look for some kind of employment but failed in spite of her level of education.     The Taliban’s oppressive rule around the late 1990s caused the practice of bacha bazi to be moved underground. However, the fall of the Taliban government in 2001 revitalized the practice in Afghanistan, and according to Afghans who have studied bacha bazi or have even taken part in it, bacha bazi has continued to expand over the past decade. Bacha bazi also remains a poorly understood issue in Afghanistan because there are no sound statistics to express the full extent of the practice. In fact, Afghan government officials, law enforcement, and judicial officials have a limited understanding of human trafficking in general. Although bacha bazi is illegal in Afghanistan, it is a rather open practice because it can be an expression of a man’s social status if he owns a “boy to play”. Authorities are very aware of the practice, and there are even reports with possible evidence that various government officials partake in bacha bazi(Londono, “Refworld”). A lack of government enforcement is bringing about a culture where wealthy and powerful men completely disregard the law because they know they will not face consequences for their actions. Authorities knowingly turn a blind eye and fail to hold criminals accountable in part because some officials participate in what they are supposed to be eliminating.     Compare and contrast conflict theory with structural functionalism. Pay special attention to the way that each theory treats the origin of social change. When it comes to the origin of social change the conflict theory and structural functionalism differ in many ways. Structural Functionalism stresses that society as whole, including the individuals, families, educational system, politics, and the economy come together to create a functioning society. But, if any one part of these social institutions experiences dysfunction then the whole society pays a price as if it were a domino effect. For example, if families fail to discipline their children, schools, churches and the courts must take up the slack. In the end, whether it is a positive or negative change, the society as a whole must adjust in response to a transformation in a social institution. Conflict theory does not see society as a whole coming together well for one purpose.
