Named after his father. George Jr. Was born on February 6 in 1895, In Baltimore. He had eight siblings and 7 of them sadly died in infancy, while only him and his Sister, Mamie remain. Since Babe had been Drinking and smoking at the age of seven and couldn’t respect his elders, his parents sent him to St. Mary’s Industrial School for Boys. Brother Matthias (the teacher to look after him) had wanted him to try baseball and so he later he taught George how to play baseball and he later grew a passion for baseball as well with manners. Brother Matthias that he had a knack for Baseball and was a true prodigy at baseball and was also an outstanding Pitcher. Jack Dunn (Owner of the Baltimore Orioles) came to watch one of Ruth’s games and grew a liking to him, obviously he was impressed. Dunn Offered a contract to Ruth, stating that he can join the Baltimore Orioles but in order to do so Jack Dunn had to be his Legal guardian. George Ruth Jr. excepted. The other Orioles called him “Jack's newest Babe” which then came the Nickname “Babe Ruth.” Sadly, Babe Ruth died on August, 16 1948 due to Throat cancer.
