Babysitting In Children
There are many different kinds of diseases and health problems a person could have, whether it be external or internal. I have known friends whose children start out “normal” and “end up” diagnosing their child with ADHD, or Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. It is extremely hard for the child to focus on a simple task or simple command that needs to be done. I have a rudimentary knowledge of how to properly care for someone who has ADHD, not that they are not smart or impaired , but the child needs to learn how to adapt to certain surroundings in the home and in their social lives. Babysitting has been one of my main hobbies of interest since I was younger; in past experiences I have babysat some rather difficult children that have been diagnosed with ADHD. At first it is challenging but in the end it is rather rewarding to see them learn and accomplish that task or command they were told to do. …show more content…
I plan on furthering my education by receiving my degree in Child Psychology so I can study these types of behaviors in children to pre-teen adolescents, so that way I can help children understand who they are and why they are designed the way they

In this literacy narrative, Blogs Are Not Pseudo-Diaries by Stacy Yi, Stacy talks about her experiences writing about her time spent in the Dominican Republic the summer after she graduated high school. The thesis statement of this narrative is “Far more interesting, though, was my hands-on education in the possibilities of travel journalism, and the freedom that comes with disregarding expectations.” Stacy talks about how there were lots of people who wanted to be kept up to date with her experiences while she was in the Dominican so she set up a blog where she could easily do so. At first she wrote mainly about how she was enjoying her time, posted some pictures, and wrote about missing home, the things she thought she should be writing about. Things she thought people wanted to read about. Stacy began to grow bored with what she was writing and the views on her posts were dwindling, she could tell her readers were becoming bored as well. Soon she stopped posting all together, she thought it was pointless. One day, she had a conversation with the oldest daughter of her host family and she knew she wanted to write about her and Stacy decided to post it. She started posting about local soccer games, restaurant reviews, disagreements she had with members of the family, things she really liked to write about. She felt better about the things she was writing, she felt satisfied. Stacy felt that writing day to day posts would provide a lot of information but not capture the feel of her trip to the Dominican. She felt that to make a good record of her trip she needed to write about things were relevant to her trip and in ways that fir the experiences she had.…

This article is very enlightening and can be used immediately in my future practice. Most parents that I currently work with at my job have students with some form of disability. I have worked with parents with students who have ADHD and these students tend to exhibit difficult behaviors. However, these parents may have never been diagnosed for ADHD themselves which could cause many problems within the family dynamic as the article states. Voluntary assessments could be administered to parents for evaluation of disabilities.…

In the work setting it is essential to be able to communicate effectively with many different people on a daily basis. It is important to establish good relationships with a range of different people so that you can plan for and meet their needs. Personally in my setting I am expected to communicate with teachers, children, classroom assistants, lunch supervisors, clerical staff, care takers and parents. Different forms of communication may be required to do so and good communication skills are essential. It is impossible to develop good relationships without good communication. In my work setting the first people I would communicate with is the teacher of the class I am with. From them I learn the plans for the day, what child r children may need extra help, the goals we are working towards and any changes to the class, the children and the plans in place. After listing to the teacher I would then ask any relevant questions and ensure I am ready for the day ahead. Good communication is essential at this point as it helps build respectful relationships, and means that we work together in a team for the good of the children. Poor communication here would lead to either myself or the teacher being unsure of or tasks for the day, which may then lead to confusion for the children. Poor communication may then lead to feelings of stress and resentment as we may feel that we are being ignored or unappreciated. When we are communicating with our managers and peers, we need to ensure that we are communicating appropriately and respectfully. Firstly we need to ensure that were we are communicating is at an appropriate time and location, and that we speak to each other in an appropriate tone of voice. It is essential that we listen to everyone else, and respect their opinions and ideas. We can show we are listening by responding with appropriate questions, having eye contact and open, receptive body…

Setting that work well and are effective are usually dynamic and changing environments. This is because year on year, children and their families will arrive with different needs, expectation and interests. I too will be developing as I update my knowledge and skills. This means that effective settings rarely do the same thing year in and year out. They talk to parents, other service users and colleagues and focus their energies on improving how they are working. The process of reflective practice, both for individual staff members and the setting, is essential in this. I as a…

I believe the most challenging aspect about this particular position is investigating a facility due to the allegations reported and properly documenting. When investigating a facility, one must be aware of their surroundings and properly multi-task because an investigation may involve talking to multiple individuals while receiving documents and presenting presenting facts. The main focus is to secure the child in that particular environment, by following all policies and procedures of the agency. This appeal to me because I've had a personal experience of child care negligence. When my daughter was younger she attended at child care facility that I trust and believe would properly care for my child. One day, I stopped by to check on her…

The main current legislation that the government brought out was the children Act that was introduce in 1989, the law enforced a big change in the way parents role are regarded and having a responsibility to their children rather then rights over them. Under the children Act, children do have rights for example have their wishes considered when decisions that affect them are being made and also discuss any concerns they might have. The children Act aim is to simplifying the laws that protect children and young people. They tell people what theirs duties are and how they should work together when child abuse is suspected. For a guideline we have the EYFS in place and that ensure us for our ratio's, incidents forms, planning, and documentation. That is to ensure our safeguarding within the setting to up to date with meeting legal requirements.…

One of the most common metaphors for school is that of a babysitting service where teachers are babysitters and students are small children or babies. This outlook is incredibly harmful for the teaching profession; it removes our college educations and our certifications, replacing them instead with the image of a whiney, inept, teenager. It is also harmful for high school students. These students are on the cusp of adulthood and should be treated accordingly; instead the metaphor draws up images of needy children who can do little on their own thus potentially stunting the maturation of students. Parents who view school as a babysitting service do not respect the importance of school in their children’s lives. School becomes a place where they send their children when they can’t be there; it is not a place their children need to go to be…
