Create a poster detailing the 7 areas of learning from the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and explain how each are interdependent.
Early Years Foundation Stage has 7 areas of learning however these areas are divided into two groups the prime and specific areas. The prime areas; these areas are very crucial in forming the foundation of the children's learning and forming relationships. These are: .Communication and Language; .Physical development; and .Personal, social and emotional development. The specific areas; these are the areas through which the prime ares are strengthened and applied. These are: .Literacy; .Mathematics; .Understanding the world; and .Expressive arts and design. All these areas are interdependent in that the prime areas are the basis for successful learning in the other four specific areas. It would be very easy for the child who has achieved the outcomes in the prime areas to make speed progress in the four specific areas. Lets take an example of communication and language. A child who has good developed communication and language skills will be able to socialize easily and be able to manage their emotions. Because children learn mostly by copying and vocalizing things like reading, counting and so on would be easy for this child. Another example is personal, social and emotional development, the more the child socializes because in doing so they are interacting with one another their speech will improve and also their mobility will increase which is physical development. The best illustration would be an activity, lets take play dough for instance. Five children involved in this activity as they roll, mold, pat, that is physical as they do this together they are socialising hence also developing their communication and language skills. As they are molding this play dough they are using their imagination and being creative which is expressive arts and design and also as they are molding they are looking at shapes
