RESULTS AND DISCUSSIONS
This chapter discusses the results based on the actual survey conducted. The researchers used tables with respective explanations for representation of the results. It includes different interpretations shows the responses came from the survey questionnaire. The minimum required number of respondents for this study is 114, and 131 valid survey questionnaires gathered for this study.
In backpacker tourism, age plays a significant role in defining the uniqueness and identity of the group, for the reason that backpackers are recognized as basically youthful people who travel to enjoy their childhood and explore the world. This shows a fairly balanced dispersal between males and females. Although this is a fairly balanced result between the two genders, the male group is still greater than the female group. This tells us that the male group is growing in the backpacker market, and that they were slowly becoming an important factor in backpacker tourism. Cave & Ryan (2007) note that males value links to adventure activities more highly than females. This correspond to research in the area of gender contrast in adventure experiences. Most females prefer travel booking considering the quality of accommodation and offered services gives difference between females and males. However, Myers & Hannam (2008) offer new conceptual and practical insights upon feminist theory. They argue that female’s backpacker travel in particular contexts can also be a potential liberating experience for some women as they gain the freedom to express their often hybrid identities in new ways. This argument explains that even though males were more into backpacking, females have potential too not just by contributing to the backpacker tourism industry but also in terms of expressing themselves as they travel. Furthermore, majority of these travelers are individual travelers and are self-developers or learners. Lastly, the Outside Batangas Backpackers has the highest rate for the reason that majority, in the Philippine culture people most likely patronage their own country. Moreover, the fact that it is a near or inbound the Philippines and is very accessible for outside batangas travelers then it is highly possible to be visited. However, some people are not able to choose their favourite travel destination due to the limited money and time (Argyle, 1996).
