Dr. McGuire The Baldrige Criteria helps to manage all components of an organization as a whole, so that the plans, process, measures, and actions are consistent (NIST). In this essay I will address the reason why organizations apply for Baldrige, the framework, and the core values of the Baldrige Criteria.
Why do organizations apply for Baldrige? After reading the book I learned that not only are the organizations looking for way to achieve their vision and mission, they are also trying to improve their performances. Also as we learned in class the companies are seeking to gain an outside perspective on the organizations management systems and learning from the feedback is very important, without feedback the company will never know what they need to improve on within their organization.
The frame work of the Baldrige Criteria’s organizational profile outlines the most critical elements of an organization (Leonard and McGuire). I learned that there are seven Categories that show what the framework does to accomplish business requirements, which are leadership, strategy, customer, measurement, analysis, and knowledge management, workforce, operating, and results. These seven categories all in some way or another are linked to the environment, relationship, and challenges of the organizations description.
The Framework is also based on the core values and concepts that represent beliefs and behaviors in the performance of an organization. What I learned about the core values is that an organizations leader should have a vision and create and demonstrate values and ethics for the company and always set high expectations, even if they do not reach all the expectations that are set for them, it will help them to work harder at achieving whatever goals they set. This is only one of many core values, but these beliefs and behaviors are embedded in high-performing organizations. They are the foundation for integrating key
