Pulling Up - it promotes good posture by making sure that the spine and neck are straight and in line. This is unlike modern dance that frequently uses contractions and jazz which is more forward than upright.
Elevation - the action of reaching a higher level. It is shown very often in ballet when it comes to things like pirouettes, sautes, and releves.
Port de Bras - carriage of the arms. There are many dance styles that use port de bras but what makes it unique to ballet is that the different positions for the arms originated with the style.

An obstacle that I’m noticing is that I spend too much time think about what’s supposed to happen and when. I forget to think of little things that should always be applied. A personal correction I have that can help overcome these obstacles is to remind myself throughout the class about these things I’m missing.
I remember exercises best by doing them and also by writing them out. Learning the work fully can help me to get the concepts behind the steps because I can visualize the components to the move and that in turn helps me understand better. Watching others is helpful as well because I can observe what their doing correctly and in turn make adjustments to what I’m doing.
Ballet is different from other dance styles because... It usually has a lot of medium - high level movement. The energy that come with it is light and fluid. The body is at most times straight with curved arms. The speed of the movement is commonly dependent to the music that is accompanied.
Personally I feel like I don’t focus enough on performance skills since, as stated above, I put most of my attention the the steps that are apart of the exercise. When I apply performance quality to my daily work it feels less stressful. This can help impact my technical skill by releasing
