Banana Observation
During the process of observing a banana, involuntary recurrent memories and repressed thoughts and emotions were recalled into my consciousness. Banana is an ordinary produce that if one devotes time to observe and analyze, he or she might discover that it associates with much more than just monkeys. With that being said, my observations of the banana directed my consciousness towards the sensation, perception, and thoughts of my inner process.

The most obvious characteristics of a banana are its color and shape. However, one might find it more describable than yellow, long, curved, and cylindrical. Aside from its basic features, the banana had four ridges that ran down its length. Present was a stem that emerged from the yellow body, fading

As I came across this seed-bearing product, I found myself feeling nostalgic. Staring at the banana reminded me of the time when I played Super Mario as a little girl. In the Super Mario game, there was a gorilla named Donkey Kong who would collect mini, saturated yellow bananas while he was on his adventure. Even though I was not a big fan of banana during that time, I’ve always enjoyed challenging my brother with who could collect the most banana. The banana that I observed today acted as a memory stimulator. Moreover, the banana continued to associate with my my monkey-related remembrances. Shortly after I observed the stem of the banana, I distinguished the difference between how I peel my banana versus how monkeys peel theirs. I was initially in a state of curiosity then quickly experienced a change in emotion. I recalled feeling sorrowful when Harambe came to mind. Harambe was a gorilla who was shot and killed after a three year old boy fell into his enclosure at the Cincinnati Zoo. As the process of observing continues, I realized that I relate most of my observations with my experiences. For instance, when I sniffed the banana, I quickly identified the smell to the atmosphere of Stein’s Garden and Home. I perceived that I couldn’t determine the smell of the banana other than being reminded of the flowers and plant fertilizer I sensed at Stein two weeks ago. But because I

Stuck there in the middle of the screen was a blueberry bush. With plump fruit hanging on the branches, and not having tasted fresh food in ages, my mouth began to salivate. Rather than a simply empty I, positing an unconscious allows one to acknowledge particular subjective experiences as suggesting a hidden meaning that simply would not be available in a self-present consciousness. This unconsciousness allows us to explain errors such as slips-of-the-tongues and other errors that even a biologically reductive account would not be able to account for. The psychoanalytic notion of an unconscious provides greater explanatory power than the conventional account of…

A banana is an edible fruit produced by several kinds of large herbaceous flowering plants of the genus Musa.[1] (In some countries, bananas used for cooking may be called plantains.) The fruit is variable in size, color and firmness, but is usually elongated and curved, with soft flesh rich in starch covered with a rind which may be green, yellow, red, purple, or brown when ripe. The fruits grow in clusters hanging from the top of the plant. Almost all modern edible parthenocarpic (seedless) bananas come from two wild species – Musa acuminataand Musa balbisiana. The scientific names of most cultivated bananas are Musa acuminata,Musa balbisiana, and Musa × paradisiaca for the hybrid Musa acuminata × M. balbisiana, depending on their genomic constitution. The old scientific name Musa sapientum is no longer used.…
