‘‘Blood Lust’’ has been regarded to as the bands best record to date, and I wont try to dispute that, since I happen to agree. the album starts
out with the bands biggest single to date, titled ‘‘I’ll Cut You Down” - an incredible piece of infectiously catchy and groovy sounding tribute to the early days of heavy rock music. This track makes me feel like I should be camping with a group of friends, and blasting this from a car stereo, during a warm summer night. It’s hard to choose specific tracks to mention while talking about this album for two reasons: 1. They’re all excellent. 2. They’re sort of one dimensional. As much as I love this album, and this band, it does just feel like a throwback. the second track “Death’s Door’’ does sound just like something that a band like Blue Cheer would’ve put out in 1969. A big reason for that is the fact that this was recorded at band leader Kevin Stars’ friends garage, so it does not have the production/recording quality that You would most likely expect from an album released in 2011. Even though I personally love this record, I understand that some people would dislike that. But since this is me writing my own opinion, I wont take off any points for that. In my opinion, there is nothing wrong with being a throwback band, unless You are literally just recycling guitar riffs from ‘‘Paranoid” by Black Sabbath or “Deep Purple In Rock”, which this band is not.
