This index is compiled by London-based Legatum Institution which takes under consideration 142 countries based on variety of factors including wealth, economic growth, personal wellbeing and quality of life. Bangladesh came in at 103, three spots above India and nearly 30 spots above Pakistan, who came in at 132. This is an accomplishment for Bangladesh because the country’s gross national income per capita amounts to just half that of India. Moreover Bangladeshis not only live 3.4 years longer than Indians, but fewer are undernourished, a lower number die in infancy and more have access to sanitation.
From the article we observed that Bangladesh has overtaken India in overall prosperity, but there are some issues that Bangladesh should be concerned like remittance. Bangladesh should increase the remittance flow, as remittance can play a vital role in developing a country’s economy and it can also help to improve the living standard of people. Therefore the government of Bangladesh should be concerned to increase the remittance flow as it can lead to a healthy economy.
The garment industry which is known as the biggest export for Bangladesh should come into a solution. The ongoing unrest of the garments sector forced the buyers to shift their orders outside Bangladesh, which will adversely affect the Bangladesh economy. To solve the ongoing problem BGMEA and the trade union should come to act; they both can together solve the problem by discussing and then come in a mutual agreement. This might help to solve the problems.
Another factor where Bangladesh can improve is in political unrest. The political unrest or strike forced the business people to shutdown their business. This is actually hampering the economy badly. The political
