[Banquo and his family are having supper in the dining room at their home. Banquo looks down to the ground, pondering.]
Fleance: What is bothering you father?
Banquo: Nothing of your concern Fleance.

Singing and cheering echo through the vibrant sounds of this lovely Lochaber night in celebration after our victory over the traitor Mcdonwald. Our home is imbued with the enveloping feeling of content as our mouths are glutted with food. I watch as my wife sitting across from me devours a lamb chop and my dear Fleance carve his way through a potato. My belly is already bulging. However, my mind contemplates three things: Is the witches prophesy true? If so, could I be the father of a future king? Should …show more content…
They are the ugly, scheming, dirty, deceptive agents of Satan. They can never be trusted. However, Macbeth was so convinced by the prophesy. His face was as red as a tomato after hearing the prophesy. The witches prophesised that he would become Thane of Cawdor. He did, once we mopped up the traitor Mcdonwald like he was merely dirt being flung around the battlefield. Can it be true?
However, I have my misgivings about Fleance. I have tried to raise my son as a warrior – strong, ambitious and loyal. He fulfils some of these traits, but his bravery could be questioned. That is why this is such a troublesome proposition for me– will my son be able to rule Scotland? Is he the man I raised him to be?
Just recently Fleance was petrified by a small rodent scurrying through the kitchen, taking with it a cloud of dust. My ears bled with pain at the screeching sound of his scream. Power is a wonderful thing – if this absurd prophesy is true, then our family will be the most powerful of all. Will Fleance be able to handle this power? Will he use it wisely? If not, what could happen to Scotland, or our family? Power grants uneasiness to the wearer of the crown. King Duncan is intelligent, that is why he has reigned for these many years without being defeated. He is able to manage the power that he beholds wisely. However, I cannot see Fleance emulating this success.
He is too fearful; too afraid to try new things. He focusses too much on his strength; on the power that he has, and not enough on his ability to learn. He treats knowledge as if it is a burnt out candle in a dark and dim night – it has no use. Without wisdom, there is no way a king can rule. Without wisdom, the power granted to him could corrupt him. How can Fleance become a successful leader if he chooses to not pursue knowledge and lead with
