I can consider my self, lucky to have the opportunity to work directly with one of those rare leaders in the past three years. Where his beliefs and values were transferred to me in a supportive mentor/apprentice manner. Learning the better ways of taking care of my people and creating the safe, supportive space in which they can preform and exceed in their field. I learned that surrounding myself with the right people is how an effective leader can continue giving and preforming for the organization, where as an effective leader is measured by the caliber of the people he inspires and surround him.
Learning to provide the right environment for my team was one of the challenges, a greater challenge arose as to how and when use the styles learned and brought down to me. I learned and achieved under the operation of a participative leader that included the whole team when needed to deliver his vision and mission and communicated with all the levels of the team, took the advise and expertise of the close people surrounding him when making a big decision that can have an impact on the department as a whole, where everyone felt included and had a say in a way or another. Having this charismatic personality enabled him to influence those around him from peers to the lower level of the organization, where his passion inspires the open-minded that thrive to learn and be as skillful and knowledgeable as him.
