Becoming An English Language Arts Middle School Teacher
For the past few days I have been researching which career best fits me. My overall goal is to chose a career that fits my personality and skills. I would also like to see what it takes to get me to this goal/career. My Career Cluster Survey showed that my top career is Education and Training.My personality fits best with this career. Being able to work well with others and to communicate are key for the career I have chosen. My Basic Skills Survey stated that writing and speaking skills are my top basic skills. Reading Comprehension and Critical Thinking are my lowest skills, which I can improve throughout the rest of my years of education. After considering the options, I chose to become a English Language Arts Middle School Teacher. My basic skills matched to this one because of my ability to be social and my ability to learn and take corrections as well as being organized.

Career Choice: I have chosen to be a English Language Arts Middle School teacher.
I chose this career because it matches the basic skills that I excel in. The many tasks I will be responsible for will include adapting teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students varying needs and interests. Another task would be to establish and enforce rules for behavior and procedures for maintaining order among
students. The career I have chosen has an average growth rate of 23% each year. The outlook of this career is stable. In the future it will be replaced by computers and homeschooling programs. The career I chose will consist of me working inside. Most likely in a classroom. The average annual wage is $42,160 and the hourly wage would be $20.27.
My Plan for High School: My plan for high school will consist of many classes such as Computer Applications 1. Another class I have to take is Early Childhood Education 1. These classes are important because you are responsible for the children and technology is gradually increasing every year.
I have decided not to play any sports in high school, but that might change. My extracurricular activities include coaching a basketball team and dancing at my dance studio. My goal for my G.P.A. is 3.5 or higher.
My College Plan: The are two colleges that i want to chose from. Appalachian State University and North Carolina State University both give me the opportunity to succeed. I would like to get my Masters degree which is a four year degree.
When I go to college I plan on staying at the campus if they offer dorm rooms. Also if I feel it's a safe place for me. Im hoping to get scholarships to help pay for my education.
My parents and I have not sat down and talked about a plan for college. Im planning on talking to my parents about saving money and ways to save money for school. I also have other family members that would love to help me with that.
Conclusion:
What I have learned through my research is that you may match better with careers you don’t have a passion for. In this case that's what happened. My goal is to become an attorney. I want to help people and become successful. As I researched, I realized that teaching might be my second option. I would advise my friends to go through this process because it gives you other options and ideas of what you7 could do. My parents helped me pick a career through this program.
