The ‘lawnmower’ mom, is a mother who tends to go the extra the mile to make sure their child never faces any difficulties in life. They will do whatever possible to prevent any and all forseeable issues in their childs future. This could mean they rush to defend them anytime they receive a score lower than 99% on a test. Or they will drop a forgotten item off at the school, so that their daughter/son does not have to worry or accept the consequences of being irresponsible. If you have a ‘lawnmower’ mom then most likely when she offers to help you with an assignment, she ends up doing the entire project for you, to ensure that you receive a perfect grade. but at other times they can put the child at a disadvantage.
Being the child of a ‘lawnmower’ mother has plenty of ups and downs.
One advantage would be not having to work as hard to reach your goals because your mom has already cleared a path for you. Also, you will always have someone there to back you up and defend you, no matter what challenges you face. On the other hand, having a ‘lawnmower’ mom can put you at a disadvantage compared to other children. You will never learn to have a strong work ethic if your parent is putting in all of the effort. It is important to work for what you want in life. You may never experience real dedication if your mother is fighting all of your battles for you. Depending on your outlook on life, you may love or hate having a ‘lawnmower’ mother as a
parent.
Everyone wishes at some point in their life that they had someone to do everything for them. While I can admit to feeling that way at times, I would not want to have a mother who constantly did all of my dirty work. It would be nice to have extra help every once in a while but having a ‘lawnmower’ mom borders the line of having a ‘helicopter’ mom, also known as an overprotective parent. Because my mother would want to make life easier for me, she would also want to protect me from any potential dangers. This may sound caring but at a certain point it can become overbearing and stressful to a child because their mom puts more restrictions on what they are allowed to do in their free time.
