Being A Pafian
Chapter my second home
What is chapter to me? How does it feel being a Pafian? To be honest coming to Chapter was one of the best decisions I ever made. Chapter is the most loving, friendly home I have ever been a part of. Being a Pafian has always been really honorable for me whenever I went for basketball matches etc. I love Chapter so much that sometimes I tell my Mother that going to school is much more enjoyable than staying at home and being scolded.
It is said “Amongst the many stages of a person’s life, the one that most people remember forever is the school life”. It is indeed a mixture of different emotions. The moment we enter, we are surrounded my people with different personalities. Some find company in books and some like being

School is like an entirely different land, compared to one’s life outside of school. At school you must conform to someone else’s ideas, rules, lifestyle, and teaching. In many ways the novel, One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest, is almost exactly like how we are to act and are treated at school. Similarities between school and a psych ward are that they have leaders, cliques, and the leaders have the ability to control time.…

The author of “Against School” John Taylor Gatto believes that during his long career in public schools he didn’t realise that schools are playing any major role in modification of “raw” children except making them childish adults. And the key problem behind the outcome is boredom, it occurs because scholars feel confined in 12 years of “imprisonment”. Gatto thinks that schools can increase the chances of success for their students if they let them make own decisions and take risks when necessary.…

Growing up we all looked forward to starting high school, but how many of us enjoyed every bit of it? High school was a moment that I looked forward to; thoughts of doing what I finally wanted to flood my mind. In June 2008, I received my GSAT result and was delighted when I saw that I passed for the William Knibb Memorial High School; although a bit disappointed because it wasn’t on my top five list. High school was not everything that I expected. In a few days, I met a few nice people. The first week of school was amazing, but after a few weeks things started getting intense. High school; however, was no bed of roses, especially when it came onto the subjects, reports, and school rules.…

High school is supposed to be the best years of a teenager’s life and for me it was. The first high school I ever attended was Eldorado high school, home of the Sundevils. The first day of my freshman year I woke up to my mom’s voice that morning, “Get up!” she yelled from my room door. It was the perfect morning, the smell of pancakes and bacon coming from the kitchen and my dad ironing my clothes before he goes to work. The first day of my freshman year was just like any other freshman’s. I walked to each of my classes nervously in those crowded and long hallways but mostly filled with excitement because I knew there was a lot of exciting adventures to come. After the first couple of months I was no longer a random girl that walked the wall ways. Everyone I associated with called me Nayynayy, that nickname stuck with me throughout my whole high school career.…

School is a place where I’m supposed to learn about how to deal with life outside of school, but in reality a lot of what I learn is no use to me in real life. I’ll never have to graph a polynomial function outside of algebra class, and I’ll never have to explain to someone how to figure out the count of valence electrons in Oxygen. Outside of school, however, I do learn about things useful to me. Like how to communicate with others, or how I can survive on my own without having to be dependent on someone else. School has ceased to be about learning, now it’s all about memorizing material for a test and…

Dan Savage, an American writer, once stated, “Ultimately life is disease, death and oblivion. It's still better than high school” (Savage). This quote represents what my high school career was like; for example, I have been to 4 different high schools. I was in foster care, so I would move around a fair amount. Moving around, I experienced many first and last experiences in high school. Despite what Savage stated, not all of my first and last experiences in high school were horrible. Stereotypes about high school set aside, high school was exciting and horrible from the beginning.…

    Middle School Reflection

Grade 6: In my opinion the sole purpose of middle school was so that all of the adolescent miscreants could be forced into one awkward prison. The proof was in the cafeteria, a minefield of strange social customs and noisy kids who seemed to enjoy nothing more than screwing up another person’s day. At least those were my thoughts when I first entered the overly powerful axe scented school. But at the table where I now sat around with friends new and old in all directions, my opinion was quickly morphing. Sure, most people were immature and concerned only with themselves, but here I was laughing along with them, perhaps I was simply pretentious and carping to see the flaws in the school.…

    Why I Like School

Have you ever wondered what the point of school is? I like school because you learn new things, make friends, and learn how to behave properly. To start, I like learning new things because it can help you get the job you want. Next, school can help you make new friends because you see them almost everyday. Along with that, the extra curricular programs can assist you in meeting new friends who have the same interests and hobbies as you. Finally, behaving well as an adult is important. In school, you learn how to act around different situations. If you make a behavioral mistake while in school, you will be told it is wrong and may be punished. If you don’t act accordingly as an adult, you can lose your job, be fined, or get…
