Why I like School

Have you ever wondered what the point of school is? I like school because you learn new things, make friends, and learn how to behave properly. To start, I like learning new things because it can help you get the job you want. Next, school can help you make new friends because you see them almost everyday. Along with that, the extra curricular programs can assist you in meeting new friends who have the same interests and hobbies as you. Finally, behaving well as an adult is important. I have been through many obstacles in my life and making the decision to go back to school will give me the opportunity to prove that just because you grow up in a bad environment does not mean that you can’t succeed in life or accomplish great things. There are others reason why I went back to school as well one of them being that it will increase my finical situation, and portray a positive role model for my daughter I grew up in Compton California which is a very poverty stricken area that is infested with crime, gangs, teen pregnancy and poverty. School is a place where I’m supposed to learn about how to deal with life outside of school, but in reality a lot of what I learn is no use to me in real life. I’ll never have to graph a polynomial function outside of algebra class, and I’ll never have to explain to someone how to figure out the count of valence electrons in Oxygen. Outside of school, however, I do learn about things useful to me. Like how to communicate with others, or how I can survive on my own without having to be dependent on someone else. School has ceased to be about learning, now it’s all about memorizing material for a test and…

School can be an enjoyable place. It can be a place where friends are made, a place to laugh, make memories, and learn. Even though school has many positive aspects, students can also find many more negative aspects about it. It can be a place where teachers give tons and tons of homework, a place that only makes people stress out, a place where teachers just do not teach anything at all, or do not like certain students, a place full of hard tests, essays, and projects. Sometimes school can only be dreaded, heart and soul. Though school can be unwanted and undesirable for many, it is needed and it brings people many benefits to their future life. Teenagers should not drop out of school, giving up; instead, they should study as hard as they can and get as much knowledge as possible. They should finish high school and look for a higher education.…

I believe in school now in days the curriculum kills our creativity. Not the teachers. The teachers are only there to help teach the curriculum. Now in days you can’t write whatever you want any more or do whatever you want any more in school. There is no choice. Its either option “A” or option “B”. Kids growing up in this era will have no imagination because it’s all straight forward stuff. Teacher get mad at you if you doodle on your paper or step out of line in the hall way. Kids won’t want to be creative because they won’t know what creative is. I find that the curriculum is to worried on getting the information to the kids other than letting them find out ways to show the information or talk about it. It’s just all writing and writing, no free choice anymore. In the poem it’s the same thing. The boy gets made fun of and hurt because he was trying to be creative. No one can do their own stuff anymore.…
