Doing the correct research before going to air is key because it tells the viewer that the broadcaster knows what they're talking about. The key word here is correct research, Not just any research. In the broadcasting world, people always expect to get that extra effort out of their broadcasters, and it’s no different when it comes to sports broadcasting. Doing little things before each game like reading up on a player's biography or watching the opponents play other games before they play the team that the broadcaster works for can go a long way. Even if that broadcasters career hasn’t started yet they can do things to get ahead of the game. In the article “ How to be a sports broadcaster” there was a quote saying “No skills develop in isolation; it takes years of practice and a focused determination to become a successful sports broadcaster.” ( Clapp, Page 2). That was said by a successful MLS (Major League Soccer) announcer John Strong. He worked and put in the extra effort for years. He did it before he even had a job. John Strong is just an example of a sports broadcaster who was focused and determined to put in that extra effort, And now he’s a successful sports
